Considering 135 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently praise the professional installation teams, noting that workers arrive on time, work efficiently, keep spaces exceptionally tidy, and complete projects smoothly. Many consumers also appreciate the remarkably high quality of the new windows and doors, which make their homes significantly warmer and look fantastic from the outside. Chaotic installation

Chaotic installation, months of unresolved defects, and total disregard — avoid Clydebuilt / Collins & Davidson

I want people to understand exactly what happened in my home, because nobody deserves to go through what I have.

When Clydebuilt (now calling themselves Collins & Davidson) arrived for the installation, my household was turned upside down within an hour. Every window and door was ripped out at once. Different workers were in different rooms, doing different things, with no communication whatsoever. The result? Every room ended up with different finishes, different standards, and different problems.

The two lads who eventually came out to fix everything were excellent — and even they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. It genuinely felt like their entire job was to repair the mess their colleagues had left behind.

After the so‑called “fix”, I had to redecorate every single room in my home.
Not one penny of compensation.
Not one acknowledgement of the disruption.

I’ve been dealing with this for months and months.
I have emails, photos, text messages, phone logs, and statements from the people who came to repair the work. I have everything documented.

And still — I am waiting for answers to the many questions I’ve asked.
Not one full explanation.
Not one proper response.
Not even the basic acknowledgement I requested.

The impact has been enormous. I work from home, and the stress, disruption, and constant chasing of this company affected my performance so badly that I eventually left my job. That’s how serious this has been.

I’ve tried every route:
Customer service
Complaint handler
Management
Regulators
Finance company

Nothing.
No accountability.
No urgency.
No care.

I am a reasonable person. I accept mistakes when companies own them and fix them. But this has been the most disrespectful, chaotic, and exhausting experience I’ve ever had as a homeowner.

I will keep sharing my experience until this company finally responds and takes responsibility. People deserve to know the truth before they trust this firm with their home.

Please, genuinely — avoid this company.
Protect your home, your time, and your sanity.
I would not wish this experience on anyone.

£4,570 deposit stolen

Two years of lies and excuses - £4,570 stolen since the 28th of August 2024

This company has held onto our £4,570 deposit for over two year, despite formally requesting it back well within the 14-day cooling off period through the proper channels.

We’ve phoned and emailed more times than I can count, and every single time we were told the same scripted nonsense: “It’s with the finance department.” Nothing ever happened. No updates, no progress, no honesty.

Solicitors have contacted them in February 2026 and were ignored as well. It's now August 2026 and we are now being forced into court action just to get back money that is legally ours. Absolutely appalling and predatory conduct. We will be contacting the Ombudsman and reporting to Trading Standards.

Front door has dropped and the seal at…

Front door has dropped and the seal at the bottom is now broken and needs replacing. When they first installed they broke a window upstairs and only had 2 installers on day 1. The second day the third installer arrived on the job. To be fair they did carry out all the work by day 2. About one week later they did return to replace the broken window upstairs. At the end of the installation on day 2 the office called and they reassured me that any plaster repairs would be repaired as soon as the their maintenance operatives were available both inside and out the back door. It did take a couple more weeks before the plastering inside and outside was repaired. I imagine that it's not an easy job to do and that buildings are not always square, damages do occur when installations take place. I'll give them a call and see if I qualify for their 10 year guarantee or not. On second thoughts, I might just speak to a another local trusted doors and window installer now that I heard they went bust for the 4th time. The salesman who came out to the house was very professional and helped me select the right style and colours which was quite impressive when compared to many other companies out there who just hand you a book with crappy designs in them.

Don't use Clydebuilt Window and Door…

Don't use Clydebuilt Window and Door Company now known as Collins and Davidson (Cambuslang). We had all new windows and door fitted on 7th May. Still waiting for job to be completed and there's a flaw in the laminate surround of one window. Getting the runaround from them and nobody is making any attempt to sort things out. So much for the ten year guarantee.

We were allocated this company through the Government New Window Incentive Scheme. Check out the company before you sign up for anything - we didn't!!

AVOID Collis & Davidson who are now the trading name of Clyde built Windows and Doors.
Same staff, same very poor service.
Deposit stolen and despite repeated phone calls being dealt with by June and Kayleigh. Nothing done.
All telephone calls documented and recorded and passed to solicitor.
REPEAT AVOID.

Stay clear folks

Stay clear folks. Dreadful service told 3 to 5 weeks and took 12 weeks to install. No communication. Aftersales even worse. Doors scrape the bottom, restrictor is broken already and handles do not return to centre. Can I I get hold of anyone... No... despite several messages and phone calls. I believe they have also went into liquidation. Stay away and be safe with another company

Shady windows (instead of steamy windows)

My experience with this business was extremely disappointing.

I was encouraged to sign paperwork and pay an “admin fee” but I do not believe the lack of a cooling-off period was properly explained to me before I signed. When I later tried to cancel, I was informed that my “admin fee” would not be returned. And that I’d still be required to pay for the windows I ordered.

After raising concerns and requesting a refund, I found the company’s communication to be aggressive and unhelpful, which left me feeling pressured rather than supported. Constant harassment from them, phone calls constantly to the point that I was scared to look at who was calling me.

Before dealing with this business, I would encourage potential customers to carry out thorough research into its history and any previous company names associated with it. This was something I wish I had done before handing over my money. However easier said than done when they called me from a withheld number and didn’t answer when I asked their company name. Maybe because they couldn’t remember which name they were trading under that week.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business.

Finally had the news today my deposit from Clydebuilt gone after promises of full refund if l took down negative review.
This is over 2years of dealing with these people how they are allowed to trade is beyond me.lf l could have gave the zero l would have think very carefully if you get involved and always pay any deposits with a credit card. Some people have lost thousands when this company went into receivership and they were still taking money when they knew they were out the game.

We had windows fitted early April 2026 by this company. The fitters broke the beading on the French doors, missed putting caps on the hinges. The doors have dropped and need adjusting, plus one window was not the speck we ordered. We were offed a discount of £150 which we accepted. After at least 20 phone calls and several emails they have still failed to rectify the problems. We found out today after we turned up to an empty factory that they’d gone bust ! Compared to some of the comments on here we seem to have got off lightly. STAY CLEAR OF THESE SCAMMERS THEY ARE WRONG UNS. Read the other comments to find further information about them.

The almost atrocious company ever

Took over a year to complete the job.
They don’t respond to calls and / or emails. For finally manage to speak to someone they say they will get back to you but don’t.
They take your money but no provide any invoices, receipts and guarantees.
This company should be investigated and closed down!

This company has a hard sell policy and once they have your money they then dont care about issues or failure of service. My mum had doors fitted and they have not been correctly done. Had them repaired several times and the last fitter damaged the door without saying and left the corner broken and cracked and they will no longer respond to us! Stay well awa from them. Im taking legal action now as the doors cost over £7000

Awful service - avoid at all cost

Awful service. Left a mess, damaged window surrounds. The worst part was the failure to fit the door properly and they wont come out to fix it. Excuses were made up. We have had a joiner look at it and it isn't fitted correctly. I have emailed and called, I was told it was with their complaints person. Over a week since they said they would get back to me the next day. Now looking at the reviews of the company I see that they are cowboys. Wish I had checked first. Definitely contacting the Ombudsman as they are crooks.

A problem with our patio door

We discovered a problem with our patio door on Tuesday lunchtime and I contacted customer service b email to request a visit by an engineer to repair it. I was contacted by Robyn to acknowledge my mail and she explained that my enquiry had been sent to the service department. I then received an email today (Wednesday) to say that someone would be at my address today. Eddie arrived at noon and assessed the problem. He explained exactly what was wrong and then proceeded to repair it. Eddie was very polite and made the repairs quickly and tidely before giving a full explanation of what he had done. I am delighted with the response and service I received today and would highly recommend Clydebuilt Windows &Doors.

Awful, unprofessional company

I don’t recommend anyone gets windows/doors from Clydebuilt! Salesman used aggressive sales techniques to get us to sign the contract! Not only was he unprofessional, he came into my home stinking of cigarette smoke! The surveyor then came in and measured the windows, the next week the fitters come and find out the windows have been measured wrong… site manager comes, he’s adamant they will fit, fitters come the next day with the same windows, still won’t fit! They then had to remake our windows, after 3 weeks they finally get fitted! I must say though, the fitters were very kind and professional, I can’t say the same for the rest of the company. Now 3 months later we have just been sent an invoice saying we still owe money! Even though they wouldn’t have started the work if we hadn’t paid the deposit! Which is what they say we haven’t paid! All in all me and my young family have had nothing but bother from this company and I will not be back and no one else should use this company, grant or no grant!

problems identified still not remedied after 3 months

the salesman swore to us that the vents would not be draughty. Indeed he laughed at the suggestion. He told us the window sills would not be cold. He told us the windows would fit right into the wall - that they were bespoke made not off-the-shelf windows that have to be filled around. Because of these assurances we proceeded with the order. The vents are very draughty, the sills are cold and when they fitted the windows, there were huge gaps around the edges- the windows were floating in mid-air, hung with metal fasteners to the walls.
Then the problems really started. I called and spoke to a member of staff. She said someone would get back to me. They didn't. I emailed repeatedly. I called repeatedly. Nothing. One day I happened to get the person responsible for after installation problems and she sent people to investigate. They made notes, they suggested solutions and we agreed to the plan. Since then. Nothing at all. No reply to emails. Phone line engaged. I don't know if they are in the throws of going bust or just really badly organised. I waited leaving a review because I wanted them to have the chance to make good on the promises of the salesman, but now I've had enough. If they fix the problems, I'll update the review.

New windows and doors were installed…

New windows and doors were installed after a fairly pressurised sales inspection, on 2nd and 3rd March 2026.
On delivery one internal window pain was cracked, the front door facia was missing and also the window sill end caps. The colour of the handle and trims for the patio doors was incorrect.
Despite numerous phone calls and missed appointments I am still waiting for this remedial work to be completed. I have now taken this matter to Consumer Advice and following their advice.
Sadly the quality of both the materials and the work of the installers is grossly let down by the appalling lack of customer service.

Update to my 5 star review dated 13 August 2025

I would like to update my 5 star review posted on 13 August 2025, particularly in view of the many negative reviews of the Company posted in recent months.

In the last couple of days a fault developed with the locking device on my huge 4 section patio doors/windows fitted by Clydebuilt Windows & Doors last summer. I reported the problem by phone earlier this week and, as promised, two very professional and courteous engineers came out the very next day to sort the problem in half an hour.

I am very grateful to Kayleigh and to Robyn and her two hands-on colleagues, Jack and Steven, for such brilliant after-sales service.

I think this experience is a testament to the aftercare service and communications available from this highly professional and well-organised, customer-oriented Company.
