 陽極と、陰極と、前記陽極と前記陰極との間に設けられた有機薄膜層と、を備えた有機EL素子であって、前記有機薄膜層は、蛍光ホストおよび蛍光発光性ドーパントを含む蛍光発光層と、第1燐光ホストおよび第1燐光発光性ドーパントを含む第1燐光発光層と、を有し、前記蛍光ホストの三重項エネルギーギャップをEgfH、前記第1燐光ホストの三重項エネルギーギャップをEgpH1とするとき、EgfH>EgpH1である。
