Abstract

　車載用映像システムのようにデータ伝送容量に制限がある映像システム環境における高画質かつ高効率な映像の圧縮復元技術に関し、テクスチャパターンを含む画像と含まない画像の双方に対して、小規模な回路の追加のみで、高画質かつ高効率な圧縮及び復元を実現する。画像データ２１０に周期パターンが含まれていないときには、予測誤差符号化部２０４が、予測符号化によって生成される予測誤差量子化値２１４の可変長符号を圧縮データ２１５として出力し、画像データ２１０に周期パターンが含まれているときには、周期パターン符号化部２０８が、周期パターンに関する情報のみを圧縮データ２１５として出力し、予測誤差符号化部２０４の出力は停止される。復元側では、圧縮データから１周期前の画素値のコピー指示を検出しない間は、通常の予測符号化方式における復元動作を実行し、その指示を検出すると、内部で保持している１周期前の画素値をコピーして出力する。
