Abstract

 本発明は、正面コントラストに優れ、斜め方向から観察した際の色味変化が低減された垂直配向型液晶パネル及び垂直配向型液晶表示装置を提供する。この垂直配向型液晶パネルは第1の偏光子と垂直配向型液晶セルとの間に設けられた位相差領域A及び第2の偏光子と垂直配向型液晶セルとの間に設けられた位相差領域Bを有し、該領域Aの波長590nmの光線に対する面内方向リタデーションR0A(590)及び厚み方向のリタデーションRtA(590)が下記(1)及び(2)の関係を満たし、該領域Bの波長590nmの光線に対する面内リタデーションR0B(590)及び厚み方向のリタデーションRtB(590)が下記(3)及び(4)の関係を満たすことを特徴とする。 45nm≦R0A(590)≦100nm (1) -50nm≦RtA(590)≦20nm (2) 0nm≦R0B(590)≦20nm   (3) 200nm≦RtB(590)≦500nm(4)
