Abstract

The present invention provides an elliptical polarizer which can be made thinner and is excellent in production efficiency, used as an elliptical polarizer which can be reduced in an extent that a displayed image becomes hard to be viewed depending on the direction of the polarization axis even when the displayed image is observed through an optical device having a polarization effect such as sunglasses and also provides an image display device equipped with the elliptical polarizer. The elliptical polarizer comprises a transmissive protection film, an optical anisotropic element formed of a liquid crystal layer, a polarizer, and a transmissive protection film, laminated in this order.
