Abstract

The invention relates to a vacuum-operated drying device, especially for sawn timber. The device comprises at least one drying chamber (12) which can be heated with a heating device (14) and which is surrounded by chamber walls (18, 20, 22, 24) that are partially supported by a support structure (26). Said heating device (14) is at least partially an integral part of the support structure (26), which means that an autonomous heating register is no longer required inside the drying device. The support structure is used directly, simultaneously as a heating device. This renders the inventive drying device considerably more economical than known solutions.
