Alternatively, a separate transfer device is provided to remove the envelope from the baffle in the expanding condition.
  • the envelope is in the form of a glove and the invention, in another aspect, provides a method for expanding the glove by inserting an open end of the glove in the above described apparatus so as to expand the open end across the pressure differential.

  • the pressure differential established within the apparatus causes the end 24 to radially expand, in a direction indicated by arrows 30, into the expanded condition shown in Figure 2.
  • the glove is simultaneously inflated by virtue of air flow entrained to the interior of the glove.
  • the gripping mechanism 23 may then be released such that the glove, in the expanded condition, may be lowered down upon the baffle 6 which is preferably in an expanding cone shaped form for receipt of the glove.
  • the baffle 6 may then be removed to transport the glove away from the apparatus 1 for subsequent processing.
  • a separate transfer device (not shown) may be provided to remove the glove from the baffle 6.
  • the apparatus 1 may be utilised to expand any form of flexible envelope and need not be limited to the specific application of expansion of a glove.
  • the pressure pump 11 may be dispensed with and replaced with any other suitable form of displacement means such as a vacuum applied to the outlet 7 to achieve a similar pressure differential within the apparatus or such a vacuum may instead be used in combination with the pressure device.

Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à un appareil de dilatation (1) conçu pour dilater une enveloppe et pour lui faire adopter une configuration ouverte. Ledit appareil comporte un guide d'écoulement d'air (2) et un organe de déplacement de gaz (10), disposé de manière à établir un flux gazeux (12) dans le guide et à générer une pression différentielle annulaire telle qu'une extrémité ouverte (24) d'une enveloppe présentée au guide est contrainte de se dilater en raison de ladite pression différentielle. Cette pression différentielle est créée par déflexion autour d'un déflecteur (6).
