IMPROVED KN IFE-REST.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

I, DANIEL SHERWOOD, of Lowell, in the county of Middlesex, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and impro-ved Knife-Rest, for use as an article of table-furniture, of which the following is a specitication.

Nature and Object of the Intention.

My invention relates to a knife-rest, made of twisted wire, and has for its object the construction of a strong, neat, and ornamental article, to be used upon the table, as a rest for carving-knives, forks, &c., to preventl them from soiling the table-cover.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a knife-rest, complete;

Figure 2 shows the manner ends are constructed;

Figure 3 shows another method of constructing the same; and

Figure 4 is a view of the ornamental rosette attached in the cent-re at the intersection of the ends in which the legs or and cross-bar.

General Description.

I take four strands of wire, a, and twist them toy It will be obvious to any person skilled in the art,

that the legs B may be made in different ways, as, for instance, in the form shown in fig. 3, in which case the end of the bar A is cut oli` and inserted in the centre et' the legs, and the rosette, fig. 4, is placed over the ends` of the rod, on the outside.

Claim.

I claim, as a new and improved article of manufacture, a knife-rest, made of twisted wire, substantially as described and specified.
