D D represent rollers, (oneon each side of the web,) which are connected with the cross-head E by means of the double wire springs F.
The springs l are so arranged and connected with 1 the cross-head that they naturally spring out from the web 0, unless they are compressed or forced together. For the purpose of thus forcingthem together, I
apply a sliding comprcsser, G, which-encloses ,the
double springs F at each edge of the mop.
When the compressor is forced down in near' 'contact with the rollers, the rollers are made tocornpress,

jj are wires, connected with the compressor with the sliding band 7..
The wires h h are confined partially in grooves in the handle, and pass'u'nder the band 7:.
The two sets of wires h h and j j, with the parts connected therewith, move imlepeudent-ly of .each other, but in wringing the mop they are used'simultaneously,'the vcompresser G being placerlnear-the rolls, so as to compress the rolls together on the web.
' In using the mop, the rolls and the compressor are both drawn back, as seen inthe drawing.
