Be it known that I, W. B. LINK, of Taber-g, Oneida coun ty, New York, have invented a new and improved Mop and I llo hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description the1eof,wl1ich will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

This invention relates to n new anrl improved mop designed to be attached to mop-heads for the purpose of washing or cleansing floors, The mop-cloths in present use are constructed of yarn or a series of strings of a suitable length united at their centre by a band or cloth strip sewcd or stitched to the same. My invention consists in weaving a connecting strip in the strings, by having the latter' form the Warp and the connecting strip the filling.

In the accompanying` drawing, a represents u series nl' strings or pieces of' yarn of a suitable length, hemp being the most durable :1nd preferable fabric, and b is a filling or central connection-formed by weaving yarn or strings in the centre of the yarn or strings a. ln practice the yarn or strings a form a warp, and they are fitted in an ordinary loom, and the filling b woven into the warp a at suitable intervals, the warp a being cut centrally between the fillings I. lhe woven portions or fillings b may be from three to four inehes'in width, which would be about suilicient to hold permanently the strings or yarn a together. This mop-cloth may be et' any suitable or desired width, and folded and tied. at the ends of the fillings b, the folds being longitudinal with the strings or yarn By this peculiar mode of manufacture a very durable mop-cloth is obtained. The strings or yarn a are 'lrmly retained in position, and the expense of manufacture isless than that of the ordinary mop-cloths, which are constructed by sewing or stitching strips or bands centrally to the strings or yarn.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- v As a new article of manufacture, a. mop constructed as herein shown and described.
