GLASS-GONE BURNER.
Specicaton of Letters Patent.
Patented March 2, 1909.
Application :led December 24, 1907. Serial No. 407.986.
To all who-m it may concern:
the accom an rino drar-:ino's formino' art of D D 7 t* this specification, in which# Figure 1 is a side elevation shon ing a burner constructed in accordance `with my invention; Fig. 2 is a partial vertical sect-ion; and Fig. 3 is a partial sectional View shov. ing one of the bent clips. Fig. 4 is a detail vien7 shot, ing.; a modification.
My invention relates to the class of glass cone burners, and is designed o provide a simple, cheap and etiicient means for holding the glass cone in position.
In the drawings, I show the glass cone as made in two halves 2, 2, divided at the center of the plane of the llame slot.- The cone is provided with an external circumferential rib 3, which is adapted to Abe inserted from above and snung into the spring,l cti ,s 4 of the hinged holding ring 5. This brass ringl may have four or any desired number of these spring clips, which have inclined extensions 6, and this ringis preferably provided with shorter holding clips 7 which are bent over into engagement with the rib after the cone is sprung into the spring clips. These bent clips may engage either the rib, or may enter recesses formed in the rib or the glass as shown at 8, Fig. 4.
The tric-tional resistance,
however, ofthe cli s as shown is sutlicient to prevent rotation o the burner as Well as hold it in its desired lace. The holding ring is preferably hingetto the burner, and the ring and burner may be of any desired type.
The advantages of my invention result from the use of the spring clips and bent clips, which all'oid a simple, neat and attractive holder for the glass cone.
Variations ma f be made in the form and arrangement of t e cone, which may be made in one or more arts, as Well as in the ring and burner, Wit lout departing from my invention.
In a glass cone burner, a burner ring, and a cone arranged to be seated in said ring from above, and having a circumferential rib above its lower end and which seats against the upper edge of the ring, said ring having spring clips arranged to spring over the. said rib, to hold the cone against. vertical displacement, and smaller bendable lugs between the clips adapted to be forced into engagement with said rib to hold the cone from rotary displacement with reference to the g v 'iek tube of the burner; substantially as described.
In test mony whereof, I have hereunto set.
m hand.
ALONZO L. EDWARDS.
