To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS P. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Abdomen Com ress and Hose Supporter; and I do here y declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to combined abdomen compress and hose supporters, such as are usecLin connection with a corset, and has for its object to provide a simple and effective contrivance, and consists in certain details of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and then particularly pointed out in the claims which conclude this description.

In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improvement in its completed form equipped with a suitable pad and hose supporters, Fig. 2 a similar view of the metal structure of my improvement and Fig. 3 is a vertical central section of my improvement as it appears when in use on a corset, the latter being illustrated upon a human body as shown in outline.

Similar numbers of reference denote like parts in both figures of the drawing.

In an application Serial No. 4353M filed on even date herewith I have shown and described a structure which is the same as the present improvement with the exception that in the former a thin elongated vertically disposed resilient strip is employed as a means of suspension to a stud of a corset, which strip is omitted in the present improvement.

' 1, 2, are downwardly diverging bands preferably secured at their upper ends to a short plate a, and 3, 4, are upwardly diverging bands preferably secured at their lower ends to a short plate 6, the outer extremities of which bands are secured together so as to form an open structure of a general diamond shape. These bands are preferably made from thin sheet metal possessing resiliency and a proper stiffness, but it would of course be readily understood that said bands might be made of any suitable substance that has the necessary stiffness and resiliency. 5 is an ordinary buckle secured to one end of this diamond shaped structure and 6 is a waist band secured to the other end thereof, whereby the device may be suspended at a proper tension around the waist of the wearer.

The plate a has a suitably shaped opening 0 whereby the device as a whole may be suspended from a stud of a corset, and hose supporter webbings 7 depend from any suitable cloth covering 8 which envelops the lower bands, but it will of course be clear that these webbings may be suspended in any suitable manner from said bands since the hose supporters serve merely to steady the device and hold it down by reason of the strain on the stockings.

lVhen the device is in position for use on the person of the wearer, the tension on the waist band will force the structure upwardly thereby driving the lower part of the same firmly against the lower portion of the corset so as to press the abdomen upwardly and confine it between the lower and upper portions of such structure, and right here I will call attention to the fact that the upper portion of the structure is immediately in front of the corset where the pressure of the latter against the wearer is comparatively great, while the lower portion of my improved structure is immediately in front of the lower central portion of the hypogastric region of the abdomen, and since the whole structure is made from resilient material of suitable thickness, the tension from the waistband combined with the strain on the hose supporters will keep the abdomen properly sustained and prevent it from being forced below the lower portion of the corset.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. The combined abdomen compress and hose supporters comprising an open framelike device composed of stiff spring bands secured together so as to form a polygonal structure the top of the latter adapted to be suspended from a stud of a corset so that the upper and lower portions of said structure will be held in suspension respectively in front of the upper and lower central portions of the hypogastric regions of the abdomen, hose supporters suspended from the lower portion of said structure, and a waist band and fastening means carried by said structure whereby the latter may be secured at a suitable tension around the waist of the wearer.

2. A device of the character described,

comprising downwardly diverging resilient bands a short plate having a suitable opening for attachmentto a stud of a corset to which plate the inner ends of said hands are secured, upwardly diverging resilient hands a short plate to which the lower extremities of said bands are secured, the outer extremities of both sets of bands being secured together so as to form a diamond shaped structure, a waist band and fastening means carried by the outer extremities of said structure, and a flexible pad secured to the lower portion of said structure and having depending therefrom hose supporter webbings, the
