WITNESSE INVENTOR) I ATTORNEYS nu In! Pinks Cm, mnsmuummja c.
PATENTED MAR. 31', 1908.
ERNEST WOLFF, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CAMPAIGN TOY DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 31, 1908.
Application filed January 13, 1908. Serial No. 410,525.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST WoLFF, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Campaign Toy Devices, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to campaign toy devices and the objectwthereof is to provide an improved device of this class which may be used as a horn and as a bell and a rattler device, and by means of which noises of diflerent kinds or classes may be roduced.
The invention is fully disc osed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a sectional side view of my imroved campaign toy, Fig. 2 a section on the ine 2-2 of Fig. 1, and ;Fig. 3 a partial section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
In the practice of my invention, I provide a horn a, with the larger end of which is connected an ap roximately bell or cone shaped device b, at t e apex of which is a transverse support 0 having a central eye or ring 0 and from which is sus ended a ball (1 preferably composed of meta and which is adapted to operate or be 0 erated in a manner somewhat slmilar to a bel cla per.
In connecting the all 61 with the support 0, in the form of construction shown, I provide a ball e, having a pin or shank e which is passed downwardly through the eye or ring a and with which is loosely connected a link, rod, chain or similar device e with which the ball cl is connected as shown at 6 this being also preferably a loose connection.
The horn a is provided with the usual sound roducing devices f adapted to be operated yblowing into the end a of said horn and the sound thus produced is similar to that produced by any horn or similar instrument. The horn a also serves as a handle for manipulating the bell or rattler device 3 part b is rovided with a large number of longitudina ribs 6 and the ball (1 in moving around the inner wall of the part 1) produces a loud rattling noise, the character and volume of which will depend on the force employed in swinging or moving said part b in a circle. The art b is also preferably made of sheet meta and the ribs b are stamped or pressed therein, but said art I) may be molded if desired. The .ba d may also be provided with a cord, chain or similar device 9 by means of which it may be moved rapidly around the inner wall of the art I) when said part is held stationary an. the noise prouced in this way will be similar to that produced by operating the part b or moving it in a circle by means of the horn a when used as a handle.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A device of the class described, comprising a horn having its larger end constructed to act as a bell, and provided with longitudinal ribs and a loosely supported ball or clapper adapted to swing therein.
2. A device of the class described, comprising a horn having its larger end constructed to act as a bell, and the inner surface of which is provided with longitudinal ribs, and a ball or clapper loosely suspended from the apex of the bell and adapted to swing therein.
3. A device of the class described, comprising a horn having its larger end constructed to act as a bell, and the inner sur face of which is provided with longitudinal ribs, a ball or clapper loosely suspended from the apex of the bell and adapted to swing therein, and a flexible device connected with said ball or clapper.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of the subscribing witnesses this 10th day of January 1908.
ERNEST WOLFF.
