[FERRET-RING.

Specification of Letters Patent.

Be it known that l, BENJAMIN .l. OLOES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rialto, in the county of San Bernardino and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tenet-Rings, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has relation to terret rings for harness and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts as hereinafter shown and de scribed. I it The object of the invention is to provide a terret ring which is so constructed that the rein may be properly located within the ring or taken therefrom Without the necessity of drawing the rein through the ring. Such a ring saves time and a great amount of wear on the rein. The ring is ornamental in appearance and is substantial and durable.

It consists primarily of a threaded shank adapted to be screwed in place upon the harness saddle. The eye of the ring is integrally attached to said shank and coin sists of two ends which are located opposite each other in substantially circular position and with sufficientspace between them to permit the rein to be inserted therein edgewise and when below the ends of the eye may be drawn into a straight line throughthe terret from the bridle bit.

In the accompanying drawing; Figure 1, is a perspective view of the terret. Fig. 2, is a side elevation of the terret, and Fig. 3, is an edge elevation of the terret.

The terret consists of the threaded shank 1, which is adapted to be screwed into the saddle of the harness (not shown). The shoulder 2, is located above the threaded lower portion of the said shank. The eye 3, is located at the upper end of the shank 1. The said eye is circular and consists of a strip of metal which is of the same width throughout and extends up on either side of the shank 1. On one side the edge of the strip of metal is cut away as at 5, and the other edge of the strip and on the opposite side of the eye is cut away as at 6. The narrow ends oi the strip are curved around opposite each other and form the top of the terret. The said ends have a space 7, between them through which the rein may be inserted edgewise and located in the eye of the terret. The rein is also taken from the terret by slipping it edgewise through the space 7.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-

A terret ring comprising a shank, an eye integral With the shank and consisting of a ring having its edges cut away on opposite sides to approximately the center of the material constituting the eye, hook portions flanking the line of severance the outer end of each of said hook portions terminating; opposite the base of the other, the metal constituting the eye being of the same width throughout.
