PATENT OEEIcE.
JOSEPH WEIL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
NECKWEAR-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 775,955, dated November 29, 1904.
Application filed December 21, 1903. Serial No. 185,933. (No model- To (0M w/wm it may concern.-
Be it known that l, JOSEPH W EIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neckwear- Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved neckwear-holder which is simple in construction, can be applied on any collar-button, and can be applied on and relIfiJVGCl from the collar-button easily and rap- 1C y.
In the accompanying drawings, in which like letters of reference indicate like parts in both the figures, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved neckwear-holder. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same, showing how it is applied on a collar-button,
The neckwear holder is composed of a spring-clamp of suitable construction adapted to receive the head of a collar-button and to be held by spring-pressure on the shank of the collar-button. A ring or loop is provided on the spring-clamp in front of the space for receiving the collar-button head, which ring or loop serves for receiving and holding an article of neckwear.
As illustrated, the spring-clamp is made of spring-wire and is provided in its rear part with a separable spring-eye B, having the twospring side pieces C, the upper ends of which are carried downward in front of the spring-eye to form a tongue E. These two spring side pieces can give laterally when pressed against the front of the button-head I), so as to permit the saidhead to pass through the spring-eye and so that the head will be in front of the spring-eyethat is, between the spring-eye and the tongue E and the shank of the collar-button will be within the springeye. The wire parts forming the sides U of the front part of the clamp are then brought together side by side and are carried upward in front of the spring-clamp and then bent over at their upper ends toward the top of the tongue E, so as to form an elongated ring or loop F a short distance in front of the spring-clamp and in the same vertical plane as the spring-eye and the tongue E-that is to say, in a vertical medial plane that passes through the tongue E, the center of the spring eye, and through this ring or loop F. The article of neckwear is passed through the loop F and is then folded or shaped to present the desired appearance, and the fold may be then secured in place by a pin or may be otherwise confined in place, as may be desired.
Having described my invention, what 1 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A neckweanholder, composed of a clamp having a separable spring-eye, and a loop through which part of an article of neckwear can be passed, the said loop being in front of the spring-eye in a medial plane which is passed through the spring-eye between its separable side pieces, all made of a single and. continuous piece of spring-wire, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 19th day of December, 1903.
JOQEPH. NEIL.
