Be it known that I, JONATHAN NULL, of Quincy,in the county of vIlrantlyilin, a'nd State of Pennsylvania, have invented a. new and useful VImprovelznent in Machines for BoringlPostsf'and I do hereby declare that the following is a.A full and exact description thereof, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference ma-rked'ithereon. 'I v My invention consistsin a novel arrangement'of frames and other devices for holding` a. post for boring, and also in moving they post conveniently iu relation to the anger. In the construction of my machine, a, suitable frame, A, is made, and the auger B arranged thereon, as seen inV figs. 1 and 3. The augerlrnay have a'crank, C, foiworking byy hand, and also a pulley, D, for a hand, and the use of power. It is also providedwith a balance-wheel, E. Upon the mainframe A is arranged another frame, F, which has a. lateral motion, by means of a shaft, G, carrying two cog-whecls H, working in ratchet-bars, and u. crank, I. I am aware that post-boring'niachines have been constructed, and therefore limit my claims to the abovedescribed improvements.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, isv The frame F, moved by the shaft G-,cogwheels H, crank I, wheel K, and weight L, and the movable frame .M, controlled bythe spring N, when constructed and arranged to operate substantially in lthe manner and for the purposes as set forth.
