Definitions
- the present invention relates to a new and improved compound to be used as a rooting or siding, or both, which compound is formed of the following ingredients, mixed together in about the proportions stated, viz: one-eighth of a pound of pulverized shell of shell-fish, one-quarter of a pound forge cinders, three-eighths of apound coal ashes and coal cinder-s, one-quarter to one-third (Q pound coal tar, one-quarter of a pound of moulclers sand from iron castings.
- the shell, forge cinders, and coal ashes, etc. are first thoroughly ground and pulverized, when, being mixed together, they are then mixed with the coaltar and the whole spread on felt, paper, or other suitable sheet material, and it in turn fastened to the roof or siding boards. After the compound has been thus applied to the sheet material, deal and forge cinders, ground coarse, may be put on or not, as may be deemed desirable or necessary.

The present invention relates to a new and improved compound to be used as a rooting or siding, or both, which compound is formed of the following ingredients, mixed together in about the proportions stated, viz: one-eighth of a pound of pulverized shell of shell-fish, one-quarter of a pound forge cinders, three-eighths of apound coal ashes and coal cinder-s, one-quarter to one-third (Q pound coal tar, one-quarter of a pound of moulclers sand from iron castings. The shell, forge cinders, and coal ashes, etc., are first thoroughly ground and pulverized, when, being mixed together, they are then mixed with the coaltar and the whole spread on felt, paper, or other suitable sheet material, and it in turn fastened to the roof or siding boards. After the compound has been thus applied to the sheet material, deal and forge cinders, ground coarse, may be put on or not, as may be deemed desirable or necessary.
We claim asnew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A roofing or siding compound, substantially as described.
