Be it known that I, ISAAC STEINAU, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Display-Stand, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The purpose of the invention is to provide a portable or counter display-stand which will comprise a bowl-body, either plain or divided into compartments, together with a transparent sectional cover for the body, the sections being capable of sliding one over the other, and a stem which is virtually an integral portion of the bowl serving to hold the parts of the cover loosely in position and preventing them from leaving the body, which stem also constitutes a handle for the stand.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

The body A of the stand is preferably circular and formed after the fashion of a bowl, being provided at its center with an upward extension 10, which is also shown circular. Two annular channels 11 and 12 are formed in the outer face of the extension 10 of the body at its top portion, and these grooves or channels 11 and 12 are located one over the other. The uppermost channel 12 preferably extends beyond the upright wall of the lower channel or groove 11, as is shown best in Fig. 2, so that the upper groove or channel 12 is practically deeper in the extension 10 than is the lower groove or channel 11. Corresponding grooves or channels 11 and 12 are formed in the inner face of the body A at its top portion.

A stem 13, which is shown tapering, but which maybe of any desired shape, is screwed into the extension 10 of the body or is otherwise secured thereto in such manner that -when the stem is fixed to the body the two parts are substantially integral.

The base of the stem 13 forms the upper wall for the upper groove or channel 12 in the extension 10 of the body, and preferably the stem 13 is provided at its top with an ornament 14 of any suitable description. The construction of the device is completed by the addition of a cover. This cover is made of a transparent materialusually glass-and in two sections 15 and 16. These sections are segmental, and one section travels in the grooves 11 and 11 and the other section in the grooves 12 and 12 Consequently one section of the cover will slide above the other. These sections of the cover are placed in position on the body before the stem 13 is attached thereto, and after the stem 13 is placed in position the sections of the cover cannot be removed, yet they may be moved apart, so as to disclose portions of the interior of the bowl, enabling persons to obtain access to the contents of said bowl, which in their entirety are visible through the cover. The bowl may be. provided with a single chamber, or it may be divided by a number of partitions 17.
