Hinged and the object thereof is to provide an imto the main casing, at the sides thereof, as proved cabinet for this purpose by means of shown at L, Fig. 5, is a frame M, similar in which vapor, Turkish, Russian, or similar form to the outer surface of the sliding por- 15 baths may be taken, and which may be kept tion G, which is adapted to be folded in the in any apartment or dwelling; and with these position shown in Fig. 5 or to be lowered to and other objects in view the invention conrest upon the sliding portion G, as shown in sists in the construction, combination, and Fig. 2, and in the top of this frame are formed arrangement of parts hereinafter described ways g, in which the plates F are adapted to 20 and claimed. slide, and when it is desired to use the cabi- The invention is fully disclosed in the folnet for bathing purposes, as described, the lowing specification, of which the accompadoor K is opened, the sliding bottom Gdrawn nying drawings form a part, in which out, the frame M lowered thereon, and the Figurelisafront elevation of my improved plates F are drawn forth into the position 25 cabinet-bath; Fig. 2, asection on the line 2 2 shown in Fig. 3, one of which is also shown of Fig. 3, showing also in dotted lines the poin the extended position in Fig. 2. sition of a person when taking a bath; Fig. Vithin the cabinet is placed a heater N of 3, a transverse section of the cabinet on the any preferred form or construction, and this line 3 3 of Fig. 2; Fig. 4, a similar view to heater is placed beneath a seat 0, adapted to 0 that of Fig. 2, showing the parts folded tobe used by the person taking a bath, and gether; and Fig. 5, afront view of the cabinet when such person is in the position shown in with the door thereof removed. the cabinet the upper portion thereof is closed In the practice of myinvention I employ a by a blanket, coverlet, or other similar articabinet or casing consisting of the sides A cle P, which is wrapped around the neck of 35 and the back B, as shown in Figs. 2, 3, and 4, the person and entirelycovers the upper open and the top of which is open. This casing is of portion of the cabinet. any desired height and is preferably square I may, if desired, provide a divided top or in cross-section, and arranged therein are vercover composed of any desired material and 0 tical curved side plates O and avertical outhave the separate sides thereof hinged so that 40 wardly-curved back D, composed of zinc or they will open in the middle and provide an similar material, and outside of the side plates aperture therein through which the head of C are similar plates F, which are arranged in the person taking a bath may protrude; but ways; said ways being indicated at f in the this feature forms no part of this invention. bottom of the cabinet, and are adapted to be It will be observed that any desired degree 4 5 slid forward into the position shown in Fig. of heat may be produced within the cabinet,
3 when the cabinet is in use. and vessels containing water may be placed The cabinet is mounted on rollers, as shown upon the heater if desired, and thus dry or in Fig. 2, and beneath the front part thereof what are known as hot-air baths or vapor or I00 is a sliding section G, the front part of which steam baths maybe taken whenever desired, 50 is mounted on a roller and the rear portion the amount of heat produced and the amount of which is supported in ways connected with of vapor or steam, if the latter are desired, and the time in which the person remains the sides of the main casing, as shown at H within the bath being each and all regulated to suit the requirements of each particular case.
The door K of my improved bath is preferably ornamented, and is provided with stationary shelves for stationery, bric-a-brac, or similar articles, and with plate-glass mirrors, or either or each of these features or elements, as may be desired, the shelves being indicated in Figs. 1 and 4, and the top B of the casing above the door may also be provided with a mirror R and brackets or shelves S, and the lower part of the door below the chambers or recesses and the shelves 7t may be provided with any desired configuration or ornamentation.- The sides A and back B are also provided wit-h glass or other panels a and b; but these features of construction are not essential and may or may not be employed.
It is evident that changes in the form, construction, and arrangement of the various parts herein described may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages, and I therefore reserve the right to make such alterations therein as fairly come within the scope of the invention.
It will be observed that Fig. 5 is a trans verse sectional plan and is intended simply to show the position of the parts when folded together and the door closed, and that Fig. 1 is a front view of the apparatus with the door closed, the door K being hinged, as shown at K in said Fig. 3, and the sectional view of the door shown in Fig. 3 is not an exact section of the construction, but is simply intended to show the position of the door, its connection with the casing of the cabinet, and one of the chambers or recesses formed therein.
Having fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A cabinet forbathing purposes, provided with a heater, a hinged door, vertical outwardly-curved sides and back plates arranged therein, a bottom portion which is adapted to be drawn out when the door is open, and side plates contained within the cabinet and adapted to be drawn forth, and to rest upon said bottom portion, thus forming an elliptical extension, substantially as shown and described. w
2. The combination in a bathing-cabinet, of a frame consisting of sides and a back, and a hinged front, said casing being also provided with a bottom portion which is adapted to be drawn forward when the door is opened, and
with side plates, and a back composed of zinc or similar material, and supplemental plates corresponding with the side plates and adapt ed to be drawn forward and to rest upon the sliding portion of the bottom, and to close the front of the cabinet, substantially as shown and described.

5. A bathing-cabinet, comprising a casing having a hinged front, side and back plates composed of zinc or similar material arranged therein, a heater within the space inclosed by the side and back plates, a sliding portion beneath the bottom adapted to be drawn forward when the door is opened, and sliding plates within the casing corresponding with the side and back plates, said sliding plates being adapted to be drawn forward so as to close the front of the cabinet when the door thereof, is open, and a hinged frame adapted to be lowered onto the sliding portion of the bottom and provided with ways in which said sliding plates are supported when they are drawn forward, substantially as shown and described.
