ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
DAVID L. KEELER, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN.
TOY SWING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 449,938, dated April 7, 1891. Application filed September 24, 1890. Serial No. 366,038. (No model.)
f0 all whom it may concern: V
Be it known that I, DAVID L. KEELER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of 7 Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Swings; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. i
My invention relates to a toy swing; and it consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the parts hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein-- Figure 1 is a perspective of a device embodying my invention, and Figs. 2 and 3 detached details. l
A represents a table or board to which the device is attached.
The structure is preferably of wire, and has a frame formed of a single continuous piece of wire bent at right angles at various points to form, respectively, the side posts B B, top 13', and bottom B, the parts being secured together by a band or coil 0 Where they branch apart to form a base or foot portion for supporting the swing in its vertical position, and have the portions B B at an angle to B" and B B parallel to B", but at an angle to B B downwardly-bent portions B B and return bent portions B B", laterallyextended portions B B having loops B B underneath the table, thereby forming a spring-clamp for attaching the swing to the table and causing it to retain its upright position. The swing is formed of two Wires F E, bentin the form of a pendent loop, attached to top B at their upper ends and held in contact by bands G G, and separated below bands G to form the seat F. Bands G may be permanently attached, but bands G are loose and free to move on the wires. The
top B has two bends where the top of the swing is attached.
When used as a dollswin g, the doll is seated upon the seat, bands G may he slid upward, the wires F E separated above G, and the arms of the doll inserted between the wires between the bands. Bands G, being then slid downward, bind the arms of the doll in the swing in the natural position.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Let ers Patent, is
1. In a toy swing, and in combination with a swinging frame, 'a stationary frame for the swinging frame, composed of a wire having a rectangular upright portion in which the swing vibrates, and at the foot thereof a laterally-projecting foot portion bent to form a spring-clamping device forattachingthe same to a board or table, substantially as set forth.
2. In a toy swing, in combination with a suitable supporting-frame, a swinging frame attached to the supporting-frame, composed of the paired rods E and F, separated at their lower end to form a seat and provided with bands G G and G G, arranged substantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
3. In a toy swing, a stationary frame composed of wire, consisting of a rectangular upright frame Within which the swinging frame is suspended to vibrate freely and provided with an integral laterally-proj ecting foot consisting of the branching portions B E 13 13 downwardly-bent portions 13 B rearwardlybent portions 13 B, and laterally-bent portions B 13, provided with loops B 13 whereby said foot portion formsa spring-clamp for supporting the said frame in its vertical position, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID L. KEELER.
