(Cl. 222-105) The present invention relates to a tube holder consisting of a mouthpiece adapted to be mounted on a tube, a cap which may enclose and establish sealing against the mouthpiece, and a supporting member in which the cap is mounted pivotally about a horizontal axis.
It is the object of the invention to provide an improved tube holder of the said kind that is very simple and convenient in use.
An essential feature of the invention is that the supporting member is provided with means which releasably engages and retains the mouthpiece when the latter is inside the cap and the cap is in a position in which its opening is facing substantially vertically downwards, but permits releasing of the mouthpiece from the cap when the cap is turned about the horizontal axis away from the said position.
The tube holder is constructed so that the mouthpiece is first placed on the tube after the usual tube closure or cap has been removed therefrom, and the supporting member or bracket with the cap is mounted, for instance on a wall. The mouthpiece is then introduced or inserted into the cap, and the tube with mouthpiece and cap is then turned into a vertical position so that the mouthpiece is retained and the tube is suspended beneath the holder. When the tube is to be used, it is released by turning it slightly about the horizontal axis of the cap, and its contents are then directly accessible without the user having first to waste time on unscrewing a closure. After having been used, the tube may readily be restored to its position in the holder.
The tube holder according to the present invention has the advantage that the mouthpiece is inserted into or received into a cavity which is visible to the user who may thereby avoid fouling the holder with the contents of the tube, and the tube is subsequently turned into a position in which its mouth is facing upwards, which prevents the contents of the tube from oozing under the action of gravity.
When the tube and the mouthpiece are turned away from the vertical position and subsequently removed from the holder, it is convenient to leave the cap in the same oblique position until the tube has been replaced. In a suitable embodiment according to the invention the supporting member and the cap are therefore so dimensioned that the torque necessary for overcoming the friction between the components is greater than the torque produced by the own weight of the cap.

In the drawing, a conical mouthpiece 1 having threads 2 is screwed on to a tube 3 after the closure proper cap of the tube has been removed. The mouthpiece is then inserted into a cap 4 which is pivotally mounted in a supporting member or wall bracket 6 having a corresponding conical opening. The support bracket 6 is attached to a wall 8 by means of a screw 7.
The mouthpiece has a bore 9 through which the contents of the tube may be forced out, and the outside conical surface 10 of the mouthpiece fits snugly to the inside surface 11 of the cap 4.

When the cap 4 is turned about the pins 12 to an inclined position, the mouthpiece 1 is free of two inwardly directioned projections 5 on the supporting member 6, but when the tube is swung downwards into a vertical position the projections 5 engage the under side of the mouthpiece so that it is retained in the cap.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A holder for container tubes of the type having in ternally threaded removable caps comprising, in combination, a bracket comprising a back plate and two opposite disposed side walls extending forwardly from the back plate, an internally threaded mouthpiece adapted to be screwed on a tube replacing the removable cap of the tube and having an opening through which the contents of the tube may be removed, a cap in said holder pivotally mounted between the side walls and having a cavity for releasably receiving the mouthpiece mounted on said tube and sealing it, each of the side walls being provided with a lower-end shoulder portion projecting laterally in a direction toward the opposite side wall an extent sufliciently for releasably engaging a portion of a peripheral surface of a lower end of the mouthpiece and jointly holding the mouthpiece snugly in said pivoted cap when the mouthpiece and tube are disposed in substantially a vertical, downwardly depending position with the tube disposed hanging between the shoulder portions, whereby said tube held in the holder is removed therefrom by pivoting it ina direction away from the back plate to a position other than a vertical downwardly de pending position and is replaced in the holder by inserting the mouthpiece in said cap and subsequently pivoting the cap and tube so that the tube is in said depending position.
2. A holder for container tubes of the type having internally threaded removable caps comprising, in combination, a bracket comprising a back plate and two opposite disposed side walls extending forwardly from the back plate, an internally threaded mouthpiece of a gemeral conical form adapted to be screwed on a tube re placing the removable cap of the tube and having an axial bore through which the contents of the tube may be removed, a cap on said holder pivotally mounted between the side walls and having a cavity for releasably receiving the mouthpiece mounted on said tube and sealing it, each of the side Walls being provided with a lowerend shoulder portion and each extending downwardly at a similar angle relative to a respective side wall and each projecting laterally toward the opposite side wall sufiiciently for each to releasably engage a portion of a pcripheral, beveled surface of a lower end of the mouthpiece to jointly hold the mouthpiece in said pivoted cap when the mouthpiece and tube are disposed in a substantially vertical, downwardly depending position with the tube disposed hanging between the shoulder portions, whereby said tube held in the holder is removed from the holder by pivoting it in a direction away from the back plate to a position other than a vertical downwardly depending position and is replaced in the holder by inserting the mouthpiece in said pivoted cap and subsequently pivoting the cap and tube so that the tube is in said depending position.
