Abstract

A container and a screw-type closure therefor include a screw-threaded part on either the container or the closure having a step in its trailing flank. In Fig. 3, the cap 4 has a concave step 13 so that when the cap is screwed tightly on to the container 1, 2, the crest of the conventional thread 3 on the container is forced on to the step 13 and is frictionally held tightly against release. In order to remove the cap, it is unscrewed with the friction fit resisting this unscrewing until the cap can be pushed towards the bottle to force the step 13 off the thread. Alternatively, the thread may have a step 35 as shown in Fig. 6 on the neck of a container. The cap may be provided with a pair of ribs (17) to form a slot for a tool to facilitate unscrewing, Fig. 4 (not shown). The cap may be moulded from thermoplastics material, e.g. polypropylene, and the container from thermoplastics material or glass.
