Description

(No Model.)
L. L. KING. Water Closet. No. 233,864. Patented ov.'2,1880.
"(PETERS FHOTO-UTNOGRAFHER. WASHINGTON. D c.
UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.
LAURIN L. KING, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
WATER-CLOS ET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 233,864, dated November 2, 1880.
Application filed September 3, 1880. (N 0 model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LAURIN L. KING, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Water-Closets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in water-closets for invalids, and more especially to an improvement on my invention described and claimed in my application filed heretofore, on the 12th day of August, 1880; and the same consists in the parts and apparatus herein described.
In the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, Figure 1 is a plan View of an apparatus embodying my invention, and showing part of the bowl of the water-closet. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same, showing the medicating-bag. Fig. 8 is a de tail view of the curved extensible shower-nozzle, and Fig. at is a section of the same.
Similar letters of reference refer to like parts wherever used.
In said drawings, A is an ordinary watercloset bowl, mounted in the usual way and provided with the usual appliances. B is a hot-water pipe; C, a cold-water pipe; and D, a pipe connecting with the medicatiugbag E, of any ordinary pattern, and made of rubber or other suitable material. Each of these pipes is provided with a faucet, b, c, and (1, respectively, and the three pipes unite in the common pipe F, which is carried around to and over the front edge of the water-closet bowl at f.
The end of the pipe F is provided with an elbow or fitting, H, to which is secured the curved extensible shower-nozzle G, so as to permit of both a horizontal and a vertical ad justment, thus enabling the shower to be deders the joint tight, and the shoulder or head j may also be provided with packing if desired.
M is a faucet, which projects horizontally through the front facing of the watercloset box. By means of this faucet the flow of water to the shower-nozzle is turned on and off and regulated.
N is a fitting on the pipe F, provided with a faucet, n, to which the flexible tube 0 of the injection-nozzle 0 is connected. By means of the faucet n the flow of water to the injectionnozzle is turned on or off, or regulated, or permitted to pass in whole or part to the showernozzle.
By use of my apparatus warm or cold baths or injections may be conveniently and easily given, and at the same time, if desired, a medicinal admixture may be added to the water being used. either for injection or bathing, from the medicating-bag; or by use of my apparatus the medicinal matters from the medicating bag or vessel may be applied direct, Without further admixture of water from the hot or cold water pipes, by first shutting said pipes by means of the faucets b and c.
What I claim is 1. In a water-closet for invalids, the combination of medicating bag or vessel E, connecting-pipe D, hot and cold water pipes B and C, and common pipe F, provided with injection and shower nozzles, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. In combination with a water-closet for invalids, the curved extensible shower-nozzle G, pipe F, and elbow or fitting H, whereby the direction of the shower may be deflected as desired, substantially as specified.
3. The curved extensible shower-nozzle G, consisting of curved tube J, provided with shoulder j, telescoping perforated nozzle K, screw-fittin g L, and packing l, substantially as specified.
LAURIN L. KING.
