Description

wome I H. UNGBR,
Bracelet.
No. 236,863. Patented Jan. 18,1881.
with @fises ygn'uen Q 1} UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN UNGEB, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
BRACELET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 236,863, dated January 18, 1881.
Application filed October 23, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HERMAN UNGER, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in Onyx Bracelets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such aswill enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference'marked thereon, which form a part of this specificatiou.
This invention relates to that class of bracelets which are made from onyx or other silicious material, and the method and means whereby the hinge and fastening or snap-plates are attaohed and secured thereto.
The invention consists in the peculiar construction of and method of attaching the parts above referred to to the body of the bracelet, which will be hereinafter fully set forth and shown, and specificallyembodied in the claims.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention, Figure 1 being a plan view of the bracelet embodying my improvements; Figs. 2, 3, and I, face views of the same, Figs. 5 and 6 showing the metallic attachments, and Fig. 7 the manner of preparing the ends of the bracelet for the reception of the same.
In carrying out my invention I construct the angle-plates A, Fig. 5, which constitute the snaps or fastenings, and Fig. 6, which constitute the hinge, with one or more pin-lugs, a, forming a part thereof, or rigidly secured thereto, and projecting therefrom, as shown, adapted to penetrate the holes or recesses c in the ends (No model.)
of the two parts of the bracelet, as indicated in Figs. 2, 3, and 7. The side portions of the angle-plates are secured by adjustable pins or screws 6, as represented in Fig. 3. Fig. 4 shows the sides of the bracelet recessed to correspond with the thickness of the metal, as at 0.
As a further means of preventing the angleplates from being moved or displaced after they have been secured to the bracelet, the surfaces thereof which come in contact with the ends or sides of the bracelet are made convex or provided with tongues, so as to fit snugly into corresponding cavities or recesses i in the said bracelet, as represented in Fig. 7
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and wish to have secured by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a bracelet such as herein described, the combination, with the recesses 0 and holes or perforations c, of the angle-plates A, provided with the pins and pin-lugs a e, secured to said bracelet, and operating as and for the purposes set forth and shown.
2. The combination, in a bracelet such as herein described, with the recesses 0 and i and perforations c, of the angle-plates A and pins and pin-lugs a. 6, arranged to operate as and for the purposes set forth and shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 13th day of October, 1880.
HERMAN UNGER.
