This invention relates to new and useful improvements in. a combination apron and play suit. a i

The invention has for an object the construction of a combination garment as mentioned which is characterized by a front apron panel, and a seat panel for converting said apron into a play suit.

More specifically, the invention contemplates the provision of a means for holding said seat panel removably connected with said front apron panel.

Still further'the invention proposes the provision of shoulder straps adapted to cross at the back of the garment and having end portions connected with the side portions of thefront apron panel to hold the garment on a wearer.

Another one of the objects of this invention is to provide the seat panel with an. elastic waist portion so that it is form fitting.

Another object is to arrange the seat panel and the front apron panel to be connectable at the crotch.

Still further the invention proposes the provision of various fastening elements such as a zipper construction, buttons or other fastening members to secure the seat panel at its sides to the side portions of the front apron panel.

Still further the invention proposes the provision of back panels of different heights attached at their upper edges to the said panel and adapted to be secured in extended positions upon the shoulder strap portions of the garment to cover the back of a wearer to various predetermined degrees.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are'more particularly set forth.

Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a combination apron and play suit constructed according to this invention.

The front apron panel In is provided with a pocket l2, with binding strips [3 along the edges thereof, and with shoulder straps l4. These shoulder straps are adapted to extend to the back over ones shoulder and to be crossed. At their ends they are attached by snap fastener elements IE to the side portions of the front apron panel [0. These snap fastener elements are cooperative with complementary snap fastener elements I6 mounted on the seat panel I5. The arrangement is such that the snap fastener elements l5 and 16 may be opened by pullingthem apart to free the seat panel which may then' be removed. An additional snap fastener device I! is arranged at the crotch portion of the front apron panel and the seat panel. This snap fastener device is adapted to hold the sections of the garment together at the-crotch.

The upper edge of the seat panel II is provided with an elastic I8 which normally serves to draw the edge together to make the garment form fitting. This elastic'portion I8 furthermore serves to draw the front apron panel form fitting against the wearers body. The shoulder straps I i are also provided with tape or binding material l3 along the edges.

In Fig. 4 a modification of the invention has been disclosed which is very similar to the preferred form, distinguishing merely in the fact that the seat panel II is connected with the front apron panel H] by a crotch portion 17*.

In Fig. 5 another modified form of the invention has been disclosed in which there is a seat panel I I permanently connected at its sides to the side portions of the front apron panel 19. At the crotch portion the front and rear panels are releasably connected by a fastening device l1. There are leg openings 20 at the sides of the crotch portion and formed between the seat panel provision of a back panel or 2 and the front apron panel. There is a contracting elastic l8 mounted along the top edge of the seat panel for contracting said top edge to engage this portion tightly against the wearers body.

In Fig. 6 another modification of the invention has been disclosed in which there is a front apron panel ID associated with a seat panel li This seat panel is secured at its sides by hook fasteners 2| to the side portions of the front apron panel ll). These hook fasteners are controlled with a conventional control slide 22, which when moved in one direction engages the fastener element, and

when moved in the other direction disengages them. The seat panel li is connected at the crotch by a fastening device H to the crotch portion of the front apron panel. The top edge of the seat panel is provided with an elastic it. In other respects this form of the invention is similar to the previous form and similar parts may be recognized by the same reference numerals.

In Figs. 7 and 8 another modified form of the invention has been disclosed which is similar to the form shown in Fig. 6 but distinguishing in the panels. In this form there is a front apron panel lfl and a seat panel ll. These panels are connected at the crotch portion by a fastener device it. They are also releasably connected at the sides by fastening devices 23 such as buttons. Several back panels 24 and 25 are attached to the upper edge of the seat panel l l on the inside thereof. These back panels are of different heights and the shorter ones are arranged outside of the longer ones.

The front panels may first be moved around through 180 and in thenew position secured to shoulder straps 14 of the garment by the provision of fastening elements 26 and 26 on the back panel and shoulder straps respectively. If it is desired that more of the wearers back be covered the back panel than the first back panel 24, then 25, may be moved around 180 over the raised panel 24. Snap fastener elements 21 and 2? are arranged on the straps M and panel 25 for holding this panel in the raised position.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having'thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

1. A combination apron and play suit comprising a front apron panel, a seat panel for converting said apron into a play suit, and means for holding said seat panel easily detachab'ly connected with said front apron panel, said front panel being provided with shoulder straps adapted to cross at the back and having their ends connected with the side portions of said front apron panel, and an elastic element along the waistline of said seat panel, said seat panel being connected with the front apron panel at the crotch, by a releasable fastening device.

2. A combination apronrand play suit comprising afront apron panel, a seat panel for converting said apron into a play suit, and means for holding said seat panel easily detachably con nected with said 'front apron panel, and back panels of different heights attached to the upper back edge portion of said seat panel, and means for selectively holding said back panels raised positions, comprising shoulder straps from the front panel adapted to cross at the back and connected with side portions of said front panel, and fastener elements along said shoulder straps and on said back panels.

3. A combination apron and play suit, comprising a front apron panel, a seat panel forconverting said apron into a play suit, and means for holding said seat panel easily detachably connected with said front apron panel, and back panels of different heights attached to the upper back edge portion of 'said seat panel, and means for selectively holdingsaid back panels in raised positions, whereby the shorter of said panels may be bent upwards to cover a portion of ones back and when it is desired to have a greater portion of 'ones back covered the longer of said panels may be bent upwards to engageover said shorter panel to cover a larger portion of ones back.
