This invention relates to hair removers,

' and particularly to a device adapted for gently removing superfluous and undesirable hairy growths from the human body.

One object of the invention is to provide a device which, when lightly applied, will gently and effectually remove hair from the body without irritation to the skin.

Another object of the invention is to rovide a device of the character descri ed which may readily adjustvitself to the various curvatures of the body in order to efficiently remove any hair therefrom.

Another object of the invention is to provide a hair remover that is harmless to the body of the user, and which is easy and convenient to manipulate.

Another object of the invention is to provide an article of the class described which may be folded upon itself in a manner to position the hair removing material either on the inside or on the outside of a hand loop formed by the material of the device.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of its kind which may be readily controlled in the hands of a user, which is eflicient in its operation, and cheap to manufacture.

A still further object of the invention is to improve devices of the character described in sundry details hereinafter referred to and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

One embodiment of the present invention is shown for illustrative purposes in the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 is a fragmentary view of a portion of the human body, and illustrates the use of our improved. hair remover as applied thereto;

Fig. 2 is a face view of the improved hair remover illustrated in Fig. 1" with the end portions disconnected and the body material unfolded to show the sheets of abrasive material secured thereto;

Fig. 3' is an end view of the folded hair remover having the end portions thereof connected to form a hand loop and showing the sheets of abrasive material on the outside of the loop; and

Fig. 4' is an end View similar to Fig. 3 wherein the body material of the device is folded upon itself in the opposite direction and showing the sheets of abrasive material on the inside of the loop.

The illustrative embodiment of the present invention comprises preferably a single sheet of flexible body material such for example as leatherette, or the like, and indicated as I a whole by the numeral 5. The body material, in the present instance, comprises a pair of leaf portions 6, preferably of substantially rectangular form and uniform dimension, the portions 6 having their adjacent edges connected by a connecting strip 7 shown, in the present instance, as ormed integral with the leaf portions 6.

Suitably secured to the leaf portions 6 is an abrasive material shown, in the present instance, as flexible sheets 9 having a very fine grade of abrasive positioned on their outer or exposed surfaces, the sheets 9 being secured to the portion 6 in any suitable manner, as for example, by stitching indicated at 8, and being preferably ofa size and form corresponding substantially to that ofthe leaf portions 6.

Formed along a portion of the opposite or free edges of the leaf portions 6 are tabs 10 and 11, the latter having a yielding socket member 12 mounted thereon adapted to receive a stud 13 mounted on the tab 10, the socket 12 and stud 13 being adapted to cooperate after the manner of well known glove fasteners for securing the tabs together in a manner to form aloop as shown in Figs. 1, and 3 for receiving the hand of the user, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and with the flexible sheets 9 of abrasive material on the outside of the loop, in which position the device is adapted to be applied to the body of the user with either of the sheets 9 adjacent thereto.

When the device is not in use, the sheet of the body material 5, by reason of its flexibility, may be folded uponitself in the opposite direction as illustrated in Fig. 4, and in a manner to position the sheets 9 of abrasive material on the inside of the loop, the fasteners 12 and 13being cooperable with each other in the manner illustrated to secure the tabs and ll together, thereby retaining the device in the folded form illustrated in Fig. 41 to protect the abrading surfaces of the sheets 9 from contact with other articles when the device is placed in a dressing case, or the like.

In applying the abrading surface of the sheets 9 to the'human body, the user may insert the fingers within the loop formed by the folded material after the manner illustrated in Fig. 1, and preferably by a rotary movement, under slight pressure, may remove from the body superfluous or undesirable growths of hair Without injury or irritation to the-skin, and it will be observed that by reason of the flexibility of the sheet 5 of body material and sheets 9, the device, when applied to the body, may readily adjust itself to the various curvatures thereof in order to efiiciently remove any hairy growths therefrom.

Ubviously,.the present invention is not limited to the precise construction, and ar rangement shown and described as the same may be variously modified without departing from the spirit andscope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

Having thus-described our invention What we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In an article of the class described, a

sheet of flexible body material: comprising a pair of connectedleaf portions, an abrasive material secured to said portions, tabs adjacent the ends of saidbody material, and interengaging fastening ineans'niounted on said tabs for securing the tabs together.
