Myinvention relates to improvements in hose supporters of the type set forth in my applications Nos. 575,134, 595,515, and 600,033.

The main object is to provide a hose supporter which may be comfortably worn around the hips below the Waist and without pressure upon the abdomen.

Another object is to provide a structure of this character which may be economically made and which is secure against accidental dislodgment and yet which can be "adjusted to different sizes.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a complete hose supporter embodying all the improve ments of my invention.

Fig. 2 shows the hose supporter in use.

The main band consists of two straps 5 and 6, the hip portions 7 and 8, and a back portion 9. This band is adapted to be adjusted about the hips below the waist, as shown in Fig. 2, so that it bears upon the fleshy part of the hips, which are yielding. The back portion 9 may be formed of non-elastic material or webbing, or of velvet, which is fairly rough and non-slipping. The hip portions 7 and 8, at least, of this band should be elastic so that they yield with the movement of the muscles of the hips. The strap portions 5 and 6 should also be elastic and are preferably provided with adjusting buckles, such as 10 and 11, above the stocking fasteners 12 and 13. These fasteners 12 and 13 are adapted to be secured to the upper edges of the stockings on the inner sides of the legs. By having these straps adjustable in length the hose supporter may be adjusted for stockings of different lengths. One or both of the strap portions 7 or 8 are also preferably adjustable so that the'same supporter is adapted to be worn by different sizes of people.

In the form shown I provide an adjustable buckle 14 at the upper end of the strap 5 to accommodate the lower end of the elastic 7. This adjustment also enables the wearer to take up on the supporter in case the elastic stretches or becomes weaker from age.

The side straps 15 and 16 are also of elastic and secured to the main band at points just in frontof the hips and below the hypogastric region. These straps are also provided with fasteners 17 and 18 which are secured to the upper edges of the stockings on the-upper sides of the legs. These straps 15 5 .and16' are also preferably adjustable in the manner similar to the straps 5 and 6.

The cross-tie 19 connectsthe opposite sides of the main band below the most prominent part of the abdomen so as to hold the supporter in position but leave the abdomen free from restraint. One or both ends of this tie 19 may be adjustable. Preferably this tie is connected at or near points where the side straps 15 and 16 are connected to the main hand so that the horizontal components of the pull on the side straps 15 and 16 are partly taken up by the main band and partly by the cross-tie. In the form shown I intergose an adjustable buckle 20 between one end of the strap 19 and the main band so as to permit the cross-tie 19 to be adjusted. This buckle 20 is preferably located in such a position that it will not cause the protrusion of the skirt.

The adjusting buckle 14 of the main band is preferably located immediately above the connection of cross-tie 19. This facilitates adjustments and at the same time brings the buckle 14; into position so that it will not be noticeable either when the wearer is standing or sitting. The loop 21 may be provided to hold the lower end of the hip elastic 7.

The entire hose supporter may be ornamented in any suitable manner. In fact it may be covered with gathered ribbon if desired, which is not only ornamental but serves to'hold the parts in place against accidental slipping. I

I claim: v

1. A hose supporting girdle comprising a central member adapted to engage the back of the wearer when in use, the said member extending laterally in both directions from its central part, straps extending downwardly and toward each other from the eX- tremities of the central member, and a transversely arranged member connecting the said straps and adaptedto occupy a position below the abdomen of the wearer and out of Y contact therewith, the straps extending downwardly a sutficient distance for the purpose.

2. A hose supporting girdle comprising a central member adapted to engage the back of the wearer when in use, the said member extending: laterally in both direct-ions from its central part, main straps extendingdownwardly and toward each other from the ex-- tremities of the central member, a transversely arranged member connecting the said straps and adapted to occupy a position'below the abdomen of the wearer and out of contact therewith, the straps extending downwardly a sufficient distance for the purpose, side straps connected to the main straps adjacent the points of connection of the transversely arranged member, each side strap and the end of the main strap to which 3: it is connected being adapted for connection to the same stocking without crossing the ends of the main straps.
