COMBINATION ooimnnn ieitusri Application filed March 20; 1931. Serial No. 523,985.
The main object of this invention is to provide a hair brush to which combs may be attached in a convenient manner so that the user of the device may brush and comb. the hair with a minimum of inconvenience.
" Another object of the invention is to provide a hair brush which is so constructed that combs may be attached thereto and in addi- 3 tion has a wetting sponge which may be so adjusted asto operate with anyone of the combs of the device. T 1
The above and other objects will become characters of reference refer to like-named parts in the drawings.
Referring briefly to the drawings, Figure I is a top plan view of the hair brush showing the combs attached thereto. 1 Figure 2 is a side elevational View of Figure 1. p
Figure 3is an end elevational view of Figure 1.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the
numeral 10 indicates the back or bodyof the hair brush. This body has groups of bristles 11 projecting side wise therefrom. The upper surface of the back 10 of thehair brush has a rectangular block 12 mounted thereon. The longitudinal sides of this block have 730 dovetailed slots 13 formed therein into which the dove tailed tongues 14 of the comb mem bers 15 and 16 are adapted tobe slid. A wetting spong is adapted to cooperate with either one of these combs 15 or 16 accordingly as sponge or wetting element 17 is substantially longitudinal in-shape and is wrapped about a connecting bar 18 from which legs 19 extend. The extremities 21 of these legs 19 are 4 pivotally anchored in eyelets 20. The pivotal mounting of these leg extremities 21- the position of the sponge is adjusted. The
at as... ofthe mam. These lockin plates haveoffset fingers 24 whichare adapted to. slip. over the i surface 20f the legs .19rto retain the sponge insecure position xupon either one of the combs15 or 16. The locking plates 22 are providedwith slots'25 which zserveas Jguidesand receive screws or other limiting members, said-screws or studs being .indicatedbythenumeral 26,- The block 12 has lug'sx27. extending. upwardly 't11rough-a; channel 28 located in the locking plates 22. This lug '27 serves as asupport. for aspring apparent in the description below in which r 29 which hasits opposite end resting upon an extension30of each locking plate.
This device-aims to combine all three 0fJ fthesenecessary utilitiesinto a single member. .The combs 15 and 16 are provided .with dove tailed tongues topermit. the ready mounting :ofthe-icomb members upon the'block 12-of the device.: The wetting element 17 comprises a sponge or other liquid absorbing medium which rests upon the comb which selec- "tivelyrests on top of either. one of thecomb" members 15" (and 16. Selectivity of this .sponge*member is provided by pivoting the frame holding the spongeinember 17 in eye- .I-lets 20. .By' grasping the finger braces 31and urging these members toward-each other the locking pl ates22 are released from engagementwith the "legs-19 of the wetting sponge 7.
frame and. the latteris thenfl permitted to 1'0- "tate to a positionjwhereithe sponge will rest upon thetop of one or the'othe'r of the comb members 15 'and16 atithe' base of the slits betweenthe teeth of the comb. When the frame so has been adj'ustedto the desired position pressure upon members 31 of. the locking plates '22 is released and members 24 will thereafter engage the legs 19 of the sponge LS5 frame and retain this frame in lockedjpositionsoi thatthe sponge will not shift fromits desired location. I
It is to be noted that'certain changes form and'construction may be made without V departing from the spirit and scopeof the locking said hair moistening sponge upon invention.
I claim:
1. In a device of the class described, a hair brush, a block on said hair brush, combs, means on said block for securing said combs to said block, a hair moistening sponge pivoted on said block and means for locking said hair moistening sponge upon any of said combs.
2. In a device of the class described, a hair brush, a block on said hair brush, combs, said block having dove tailed channels therein, means on said combs for engagingin said, dove tailed channels to retain said combs rigid with said block, a hair moistening spongepivoted on said block and means for any ofsaidcombs. 4,, 3. In a device of the class described, a hair frame having said sponge mounted thereon, said frame being pivoted on said block, said sponge being adapted to swing from one side to the opposite side of said block and locking'plates slidable on said block, said looking plate being adapted to engage the sponge carrying frame to lock the latter in desired position, and lugs mounted on said block, said locking plates having slots therein, said slots having said lugs projecting therethrough and springs resting on said lugs and engaging said locking plates for projecting the latter into engaged position with the sponge carrying frame.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
