IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE SHELVES.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a horizontal section of a stove-pipe with the shelf attached. Fig. 2 is a vertical central sectional view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a detail view.

This invention has relation to stove-pipe shelves; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the grooved collar, the spring-band clamp, and the removable sliding segment-shelves, all hereinafter fully illustrated and described.

In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the collar which is designed to embrace the stove-pipe and form a basis of support for the shelfsections. This collarvis provided with a supporting-flange, it, upon which the ends of the shelf-sections rest, and a stopflange, b, above said supporting-flange a, designed to engage with the ends of the shelfsections, as indicated at c, where the said ends are represented as inserted into the lateral groove below said stop-flange and above the broad supporting-flange. Into the upper surface of the flange a is formed a circular groove, 0, entirely around the flange, and at about the middle of its width. Below the flange Ct the metal of the collar is extended in the form of independent tongues g, which are designed to have some degree of flexibility, so that the compressing action of a spring-band fastening, h, will serve to secure the collar to the stove-pipe. Sometimes it is designed to make the collar open at one point, so that it will give somewhat under the pressure of the encircling band. B B represent the shelves. These are preferably formed in the sector shape, their sides being coincident with radii of the stove-pipe produced. A suflicient number of them placed around the pipe in engagement with the collar will form acomplete or annular shelf, or only one or two may be used, as required. The inner ends 70 of these shelfsections are circularly rounded with reference to a central spur, c, which extends downward from the under side, and is designed to engage with the groove e of the flange a, and prevent the shelf from sliding outward or from under the stop'flange b. The circular shape of the end 70 and its concentric relation to the spur e prevents disengagement of the shelf-section, whether it be in radial position with relation to the stove-pipe or pushed aside into an oblique or tangential position. The shelf-section is detached by lifting its outer end until the spur e is disengaged from its groove, and then drawing the shelf-section outward until its end is released from the groove under the stop-flange.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The stove-pipe shelf herein described, consisting of thesector-pla-tcs B, having circular convex ends It and pivotal lugs e, in combina tion with the collar A, provided with the groove c, lip 12, and flexible tongues g, and spring fastening-band h, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
