` simple to manufacture and 1s adapted to be the description proceeds,
made of inexpensive material, such as cardboard, which may be economically vused Vas an advertising medium. .v
Another object of the invention resides in the provision of an improved cuif havingv novel mean-s for detachably securing it about the arm of a wearer. f' j j i j f A further obj ect of the invention is to provide a novel cuff which may be packed flat to permit its shipment without the use of shipping container. p y v v A still further object of the invention is to provide a cud having. novel yieldable secur ing means arranged to permit self expansion at one end withoutinjury tov said securingv means. .v Y v` The foregoing and such other objects of the invention, as will appear hereinafter as will be more readily understood froma perusal of the following specifi-cation, reference being had to the acv companying drawing, in which: l .l
Fig. 1 is a perspective View ofthe improv-ed cuff shown mounted on the arm of a wearer. Y l 1 Fig. 2 is a developed viewvv of thesheet from which the cuff isformed.
Fig. 8 is an enlarged fragmental inside elevational view of the cuff showng the securing means in Vlocked position.
Fig. 4c is a fragmentary taken on line 1--4 of Fig. 1.
Slipover cuffs commonly usedy by office workers, butchers, clerks, and the like, are usually expensive to manufacture, and are incapable of self adjustment abouty the armk ofthe wearer. Due to the low cost of this type of cuff, its use as an advertising medium is limited. Y
The present form of cuff is provided with novel means formed integral for securing it together yat one end after-it is rolled subu sectional`r view Y -that slit 22 is of greater 1929. serial Nq. 373,835. j stantially vfrustro-conicalabout the arm fof thewearer. 'By providing for self-adjust--j-y .f ment` of the cuff' it is unnecessary to: provide Y a number of varioussizes thereby permitting standardized production'. 'f Referring to theJidrawi-ng in detail, a substantially trap'ezoidal flexible; sheet 12, such as cardboard', or thelike, is provided having substantially parallel top and bottom edges 13 and 14 respectively and havingdownrlhe corners formed bythe edge 13 Lvand side I edges Y15 and Y16 are preferably roundedv as at y18a vand k18"'to prevent ther catchingV in the sleeve of thewearers garment. One of the corners of the vshee't`12, formed by side edges 14: and16 is provided with an outwardly projecting flap or tongue 17. This tongue is formed'withinwardlyl extending ears18. and 18@y by cutting away portions of edges 111 and16, as'at 19 ,and 20, respectively. Adiagonalslot 21 is provided adjacent the cornerformed by `edges 14 and 15, and oppoe site to the tongue 17 for cooperation therewith. .The sheet aboutfthe slot 21 is preferably reinforced by Ysui-table material 24: to prevent accidental ripping. Asv shown in Figs. 1, 8 anda, the inwardly extending ears 18 and 181engage`on the insideof the i sheet 12 when the tongue 1'?V is inserted ,8u through the slotv21, thus locking the edge 16 in overlapping engagement with the edge 15.
Suitable means is Vprovided to kpermit automatic adjustment of the upper end of the, cuff about the arm of a wearer. This means preferably comprises parallel slits 22 and 2S extendingV perpendicularly v from' and olltr wardly of the diagonal slot 21. f Referring. articularly to Figsr2 and Sit willk be noted length than slit 23. Upon expandingthefwrist end of the cuff, 11, `the ears 18 and 18ZL are drawn into the i slits 22 and 23 until the ear 18 is Yarrested by Y. the end of the "short slit'23. The Vend of the cuff opposite. said wrist end is free to adjust itself to the nforearm it expands to Veffect this adjustment the earl 18a' continues to. slide in the longer slot 22 while ythe Lear 18 pivots inthe end ofthe SltZS. i ,i

It can be understood that the cuil", constructed in the foregoing manner, 1s inexpensive toY manufacture and may have advertis- Vvingmatter printed or otherwise reproduced thereon to provide an inexpensive advertising medium. The novel detachable securing means formed on the cufpermits self-adjustment to fit various sizes of forearms and its inexpensiveness makes it ypractical to discard same When soiled.

Although a preferred embodiment of the invention has been illustrated and described,
it is to be readily understood that it is capable vof embodying various modifications in detail structure Without departing from the spirit of the invention orthe scope of the appended claims.
I claim: f
1.V A cuff, comprising, a sheet of flexible material adapted to be rolled substantially l frustro-conical, said sheet having a diagonal slot adj acentone corner, parallel slits extending at right angles from said slot, a flap on the adjacent corner of said sheet, ears on said Hap adapted to extend through said slits When the fiap is inserted through the slot to lock the sheet in rolled position.
i 2. A cuff, comprising a trapezoidal sheet of flexible material adapted-tov be rolled substantially frustro-conically, said sheet having a diagonal' slot adjacent one corner and having a pair of slits extending perpendicuv lar from said slot, a Hap on the adjacent corner,v said slit and vsaid flap being adjacent the shorter of the twoparallel edges of said sheet` A I extending ears on'said flap adapted to extend through the perpendicular slits When the flap is inserted into the slotand said slits being of unequal length to permit yielding of the unsecured end of the cuff. i I
3. An article of the character described adapted to be formed of a trapezoidal sheet of material having a diagonal slotadjacent one end, comprising, a Hap adjacent the other end of said sheet, said flap and slot being arranged adjacent the shorter of the vtvvo parallel edgesof the sheet and adaptedto cooperate to secure the ends of the sheet together in overlappedrelation When it is rolled, and interlocking means-in said slot and flap to permit yieldingof the upper end of said cuff to lt the arm-*of the wearer.
4. An article of the character described comprising, a substantially trapezoidal sheet of material having a slot adjacent one of its corners, a flap on the other'corner adapted to be received in said slot when the sheet is rolled to form a cuff, said slot having slits perpendicular therefrom for receiving vin locking engagement portions of said Hap to lock the ends of the sheet together.
5. Anv article of the character described, comprising a substantially trapezoidal sheet of flexible material having a` slotadjacent one of its corners, a flap on vthe other corner
