Description
Patented Mar. 4, 193th CHARLES F. RUDZENI, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA NoDrawing.1 Application filed March 1,
My invention relates to an'improved cleaning fluid consisting of. saponified oils and fatty acid, acetone, vegetable oils, and hydrocarbon solvents mixed to constitute a new composition of matter.
The primary object of my invention is to rovide, as a new composition of matter, an im roved cleaning fluid.
other object is to provide an improved composition which may be used economically and eflicien-tly by dry'cleaners and the like, for removing dirt and spots of various natures from fabrics of substantially al kinds without injury to the fabric. a A further object isto provide a new and improved composition which can be manufactured economically. My improved composition of matter consists broadly of a fluid mixture of saponified. fatty acid and vegetable oils,-water, acetone,
and hydrocarbon solvents. More specifical- 1y, my improved composition consists of the followin ingredients mixed in substantially "the portions given:
Percent Fatty acid (oleic) 33 Pine oil 15 Potash 5 'WVat'er 10 Petrolatum (soft) 5 Benzene 4.50- Alcohol L- 1.25 Acetone 12.50 Banana oil 0.50
35 Cocoanut oil 0.75 Hydrocarbon solvent 12.50
In mixing the above ingredients to produce my new composition of matter, the fatty acid, preferably oleic acid, and potash are first 0 mixed and brought to boiling. To the heated mixture water and pine oil is added in substantially the proportions above given, the entire mixture being agitated and thor- .o ughly mixed. The remaining ingredients are then mixed together and added and mixed with the saponified fatty acid after the saponified mixture has been allowed to cool.
The hydrocarbon solvent above mentioned may be of; various kinds. Gasoline or other petroleum distillation product of relatively signature.
' CLEANING FLUID 1921. Serial No. 111,912.
low specific gravity may be used for the purpose.
The above mixture constitutes a highly eflicient cleaning fluid for removing spots from clothing and the like .and for dry cleaning fabrics of substantially all kinds. As an agent for dry cleaning, the mixture is used in the dry cleaning process in the same manner, and as a substitute for gasoline. The combined action of the several active ingredients of my mixture renders the mixture hi hly eflicient in removing dirt and spots 0 various natures in the single cleaning process, thereby avoiding much of the time and labor commonly required for vrcmoving spots and dirt not effected by the gasoline or removed during the regular cleaning operation.
\Vhile I have given the specific ingredients and proportioning which I prefer, the mix ture ma of course, be modified 'within reasonab e limits without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore,"do not wish to restrict myself to the exact ingredients and the specific proportions stated, but desire to avail myself of any variation which may fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isz' As a composition of matter, a cleaning fluid formed by mixing the following inl. gredients in the following proportions: fatty acids 33%; pine oil 15%; potash 5%; water 10%; soft petrolatum 5%; benzine l alcohol 1 4% acetone 12 banana oil cocoanut oil and hydrocarbon solvent 12%%.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my CHARLES F. RUD-ZENIA.
