IMPROVEMENT IN FLY-BRUSH ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 160,141, dated February 23, 1875; application filed July 30, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE S. BEEKMAN, of Tallula, in the county of Menard and State of Illinois, have invented an Improvement in Fly-Brushes, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to an apparatus to be applied to dining or other tables; and it consists in the combination of a slotted or grooved base-board with a treadle, connecting-rod, 0scillating lever, rock-shaft, and fly-brush, in the manner and for the purpose hereinafter particularly described.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved apparatus. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section.
A represents the floor of the room in which the apparatus is used. On this floor rests a base-board, B, which has a longitudinal groove or slot, 1), on its upper side extending for nearly its entire length, which groove or slot receives the two legs 0 on one side of a chair, 0, as shown, so that the chair may slide back and forward therein. To the front end of the board B is attached a plate, e, carrying a standard, E. in which is pivoted a treadle, D, having a bar or bars, d, extending upward therefrom. The upper end of the bar d is connected, by a rod, f, with an oscillating lever, G, pivoted to a standard. g, attached to the rear end of the board B. To the ends of the lever G are attached the ends of a cord or band, H, which passes over a pulley, t, on a rock-shaft, J, which has its bearings in hangers 7c attached to the ceiling of the room. At a suitable point on the rock-shaft J a rod, 1, is attached thereto, at the lower end of which is a flybrush or fan, M, arranged to work over the table P.
Motion is applied to the treadle D by the G. S. BEEKMAN. Witnesses:
