This invention relates to steam boilersof the u right Single .tube'type` such as is'employe inv the generation Vof steam' f in machines, etcretc. fy f .Y he primary object" of the;
so constructed as lto take advantageA of th'e lentire heat unit and to secure substantially ninetyfive per cent combustion in there box and Hue, lthus"eliminating re hazards of over-heated stacks and danger to lives by carbon monoxide gas fumes.
To the attainment of this end, there is arranged within the Hue ofthe boiler a plurality of predetermined spaced deflectors that serve to throw the heat units and prod ucts of combustion against the wall'of the Hue resulting in said complete combustion of the gases and the utilization of the entire heat unit in directing the same upon said wall. i The invention further aims to provide a construction wherein, the -steam will be generated within a relatively short while through reason of the fact that the water throughout the entire length of the boiler -1s heated by the action of the heat unit 'passing the invention will be better understood, the.
same comprising the novel form, combination, and arrangement 'of parts, hereinafter more full described, shown inthe accompanying rawing, and claimed.
In the drawing The figure is a detail longitudinal section of a steam boiler constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Now having particular reference to the drawing our novel boiler constitutes the provision of an open ended cylindrical shell 5 of desired capacity that is provided at its upper open end with a conventional form of head 6 within which is an enlarged central opening 7 Within the shell 5' at the lower end thereof gisfan interior shell 8 functioning as the fire box forfthe boiler. This shell is also of "cylindrical formation being open at its vopfpositefejds and" is ofslightly less diameter ffthan thediameter of the outer shell 5 for if; providing a Waterispace-therebetween. The
ower end'ofthis interior shell '8J is Hared outwardly at`=Qthat serves as the bottom. wall vof the bller, while dependent there-v irt 10 that closely7 engages l i Extendin through the Hue 14 and shell 8 i providingt e fire box for the boiler and arranged within the center thereof is a rod 15, the upper endof which is threaded for connection to a cross bar 16 that restsupon'the upper end of the Hue 14 which projects through the opening 7 in the boiler head 6.
"Arranged in predetermined spaced relation upon this rod 15 within the Huevpipe 14 are conical deflectorplates 17 of such a cross sectional area that the flared edge thereof will be in slight spaced relation withftheiinterior ofthe Hue pipe causing the heat units and products of combustion to be'deflected againstsaid Hue pipe for thus utilizing the entire heat unit in the reduction .of steam and also causing a comgustion of the gases which would otherwise escape throu h the Hue by non-contact with the heate thereof.
Similarly arranged upon the rod 15 within the shell 8 formin the fire box for the boiler is a pair of re atively .larger deflectors 18-18,the upper oney of which is inverted as wall. A
l'os
steam boiler wherein steam will be quickly generatedby reason of the fact that all o'f these units are projected against the interior of the fire box and Hue which isw'arranged within the boiler and wherein the complete combustion of' the will be brought about, thus eliminating the collection of soot and impurities in the tire bon and flue which will also eliminate the collection of rust and seele around the outside of the fire box and `lule or in the water and steam compartment,
Leading into and from the shell are the usual inlet and discharge pipes 19 and 20 respeotvelyi and even though We have herein shown and described the moet practical embodiment of the present invention it. is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claima Having 'thus described the invention, what we claim asgnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1.. A vertical single flue boiler haying an annular steam and water chamber surrounding said flue and coextensive therewith, the base portion of said chamber' being of restricted width from inner to outer Wall, and a baille disposed in said flue, said baille including a deflecting member in the form of of said additional members being disposed vwith its apex .downward ln testimony whereof we affix our signatures.
