It is a further object of the invention to provide a hot water boiler and furnace comprising a lower section or ring having an annular watervchamber formed therein and constituting the walls of a lire pot, together with a section having an upstanding portion disposed at its lower end in the fire pot and forming'a water chamber preferably annular in shape which communicates with the water chamber. in said-lower section.V f
It is still another object of the invention to provide a hot water boiler having a lower section and an upper section, both havingV therein annular water chambers together with a section secured to the lower section at therrear portion thereof and having a water chamber therein communicating with the water chamber in said lower sect-ion and having an upstanding portion preferablyannular in shape, also having a water chamber therein communicatingI with the water chamber in the upper section.
It is more speciiicallv an object of the invent-ion to provide a hot water boiler andv furnace having a base section, a lower section supported thereon.y an upper section and a top section, all except said base section formed with water chambers therein, together with an intermediate `section'having a water chamber therein communicating with the chamber in said lower section and with the chamber in said upper section, said intermediate section having portions disposed substantially centrally in said furnace with its lower end in the fire pot ofsaid furnace. y

Referring to the drawings, a hot water boiler and furnace is shown having. a base portion 7. This base portion as showng'is. hollow, having bottom and'side walls, andjas shown in Fig. 2 is semi-cylindrical at its rear portion and substantially rectangular in shape at its front portion. Said base member 7 has an opening 7a in itsY front wall adapted to be closed by a doork 8 hinged at one side by the kpintles 9 and held in closed position by the keeper 10 at its opposite side, said doorbeing illustrated as having a handle 88L adjacent its free end. VThe member 7 yhas an inwardly extendingv top- Wall .or yflange 7b having an upstanding rib or flange 7c cylindrical in shape adjacent its inner edge'. The flange 'l'b inward of flange 7 supports the grate memberll. While this grate. may be of any desired type, it is illustrated as aplate 'having parallel slots orvopenings therethrough. Outward of the flange v7 the member 7 supports a section or ring` 12 having spaced innerand outer walls forming a water chamber 12Il therebetween. The member 12 has a cylindrical iange 12b atfits upper end anda cylindrical shell or drum 13 fits about this ange and extends upwardly therefrom, beingV connected thereto by the headed andy nutte'dboltslll. The shell 13 has a rectangular opening in its front side about which extends a fire door casing` 15 substantially rectangular in shape and having curved Vflanges at its inner' side fittingI .v
An intermediate section 18 is provided, hav- Y ing a lower laterally extending arm 18 shown as substantially cylindrical in shape havinV al projecting curved terminal .flange 18"'y V. ttng against the yinner wall ofvsa the lower section 12 and connected thereto by the headed and nutted bolts 19. The arm 18a is o-pen at its end and registers with an opening in the inner wall ot the section 12 so that the chambers therein are in communication. The member 18 has an upstanding portion 18C and while this portion may be variously formed, in the embodiment ot the invention illustrated it is shown as annular and comprising spaced annular walls forming an annular water chamber therein. The lower portion of the member 18 is disposed quite close to the grate 11 and is thus located in the tire pot ot the furnace, vthe wall ot which fire pot is formed by the inner walls ot' the section 12. The upper end of the portion 18c of the member 18 has lugs 181 projecting inwardly from its inner side and outwardly from its outer side, which lugs are alined with similar lugs 20"L projecting from the inner and outer sides ot the annular portion 20b of an uppersection or ring 20. The upper end of the portion 18c and the lower end of the portion 2Ob are open so that the chambers therein are in communication as shown in Fig. 1. The section 2O also has an annular water chamber 2OC at its outer side communicating with the chamber in the portion 2Oh through the arms 2Od as shown in Fig. 4, the ring 2O thus having the circumferentially spaced openings 2Oe passing therethrough, said openings being illustrated as oblong or eliptical in form. rlhe section 20 has a depending cylindrical lflange 2Of surrounding the upper lend ot the drum 18 and connected thereto by headed and nutted bolts 21, said section thus resting on the members 13 and 18. A top section 22 isV provided, having a t'op chamber 22a therein and a surrounding downwardly extending chamber or leg 22b at its outer side. The chamber 20 and the chamber 22b have alined holes at opposite sides thereof and a bi-conical connecting bushing 23 has its ends disposed respectively in said holes as shown in Fig. 5. It will be seen that the bushing 23 will be wedged down into the hole in chamber 2Oc and the hole in the chamber 22b will wedge down on top of the bushing. A tight joint is thus produced and the small crack lett between sections 20 and 22 will be filled in with lire cla-y or similar material. A tight joint is thus" produced and communication aiforded between the chambers A2OC and 22h. The downwardly extending chamber or leg 22b is cut away at thetront portion ot thefurnace to provide an openingextending into the space below chamber 22 and above section 20 and said opening' is adapted to be yclosed by a door 24 hinged at one side to the section 22 by the pintles 28. Inlet pipes 25 for water are threaded into bosses projecting from the lower section 12 at the sides thereof and outlet pipes 30 for steam or hot water projecting frombosses formed at opposite sides and at the top ot top section 22. The top section 22 also has a plurality ot circumferentially spaced openings 22C exten-ding therethrough which are also shown as ot oblong or eliptical shape. A cylindrical flange 22d extends upwardly from section 22` outward of the openings 22c and a smoke pipe or connection 26 has an odset flange 26a fitting over the flange 22d and resting thereon. vThe pipe 26 is illustrated as extending upwardly and laterally in an inclined direction and the same has an opening 2eb at its forward `side adapted to be closedV by the hinged cleano-ut door 27 which also may be used as a damper.
ln operation the boiler will be supplied with water through the inlet pipes 25, Vwhich water will substantially till the water chambers in the sections 12, 18, 20 and 22. The ituel will be supplied through the tire door 16 onto the grate 11 and within the walls of the re pot formed by the lower section 12. The chamber in the base 7 will Jform the ash pit. The fuel 29 as shown in Fig. 1 will extend about the lower portion of the section 1.8, this section as above stated'thus being disposed with its lower end in the tire pot. The water in the section 12 and in thev lower portion of section 18 will thus be heated di-v rectly from the fuel. rl`he gases and products ot combustion will pass upwardly in andv about the portion 18C of the member 18 within the drum 18 and will pass through the openings 2Oe and 22c to the smoke pipe 26as indicated by the arrows. A Very eftective contact ot' these hot gases will thus be had with the various sections and the water will be very etliciently heated. The water can circulate `from the section 12 up through the section 18 and into the sections 2O and 22. The hottest water and steam will be at the top ot' section 22 and will be taken off through the pipes 80. Any ashes or soot collecting on the members 20 and 22 may etectively be cleaned by operating through the opening closed by the door 24 and the top of the vsections 22 can readily be cleaned I of soot or ashes by operating through the opening 2Gb. The ashes will otl course be removed through the opening 7 a closed by the door 8. It will be seen that the various sections can readily be disconnected and any section thus readily removed and replaced.
The intermediate section 18 will be mosty sections and these are arranged for ready re moval and replacement and are constructed to give a very efficient heating action to the water. The parts of the furnace are quite simple in construction and are easily madel and assembled.
It Will, of course, be understood that various changes may be made in the form, details, arrangement and proportions of the parts, Without departing from the scope of applicants invention, which, generally stated, consists in a device capable of carrying out the objects above set forth, in the novel parts and combinations of parts disclosed and defined in the appended claim.
What is claimed is f q A hot Water boiler and furnace having in combination a lower section including an annular Water chamber forming the Walls of a fire pot, an annular shell section above said lower section and forming the furnace Walls, a central annular section forming an open topped annular Water chamber spaced centrally from said two first mentioned sections, said central chamber having an enlarged arm disposed directly within the fire pot of the furnace and removably connected and commurcating with said rst mentioned chamber, and an upper section having a central open bottomed annular Water chamber releasa-bly secured to said central open topped chamber to close the same.
