4Be it known that I, GEORGE-K. SMITH, citi-- zen of the United States, and resident ofl 2744 E. Tremont Ave., New York. N. Y., in 5 the county of Bronx and State of New York,
have invented certain new and useful lmgrovements in Detachable Snap Buttons or pring Studs, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in' detachable snap buttons or spring studs and one of the objects of the invention is to provide a simple and ecient article of this kind for detachably securing overlapping lap of garments, and for similar uses.
other object of the invention is to provide fastening means separable from thek garment dering.
A still further object of the invention is to provide fastening means which may be readily used to fasten the flaps in any one of vor other article to `:facilitate Vlauna number of relativepositions, and whic may be readily released to permit ad] ustment thereof to another position.
Other objects of the invention and features of novelty will be apparent from the following specication when taken together with the accompanying drawings, in which:

As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, eyelets 1 are fastened in the flaps 2, which it is desired to secure together, a single eyelet being ned in one lla while a number of eyelets arepositione as desired in the other Hap. It will be evident fromr Fig. t that the garment may be adjusted so that any one of the eyelets in the one flap registers with the single eyelet in the' other, and the 'flaps arethei'i secured together by passing the removable button "through the registeringe elets.
The button is formed from a b ank of the shape yshown in Fig. 3, which may be ponits use, removed, leaving nopro]ect1ons `which will snapped from one of the eyelets, t e. device veniently made by a stamping operation, and -comprises a base portion 6 having oppositely extending portions 5 to which enlarged heads 3 are connected by neck portions 4.' The enlarged .head portions 3 are cupped to form convex head portions and the portions 5 are folded back upon the base portion 6 as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the neck portions 4 being also bent relative to the folded back portions' 5 to form a stud projecting upwardly from the base 6. It will be apparent that when the blank has been bent to the shape shown in Figs. 1 and'2, the enlarged cupped head portions 3 ferm a practically hemispherical head connected by the nec portions t to the base, theportions 3 being of such size that they may be squeezed toward each other in the manner indicated in Fig. 2 to permit them to be drawn through the eyelets 1.
Since the heads 3 are rounded` they will be -75 forced together when ylthey are positioned in h van eyelet and the buttdn is forced in an axial direction, the resilience of the metal causing the head portions to snap apart after they have passed through the eyelet. v @0 twill be'evident that the structure and l operation of the device are simple as is also and that the buttons may be readily interfere with laundering, and that the use of the eyelets will prevent raying or raveling of the'niaterial.
