Description

' E. SCHREIBER KEY CARRYING GARMENT ATTACHMENT Filed Sept. 6, 3922 ATTORNEY ya-mam Patented Get. 1%, 1924. um'ren STATES PATET Fries.
EMILE SGHR-EIBER, 0F ATCI-IISON,
KEY-GARRYING GARMENT ATTACHIICENT.
Application filed September 6, 1922. Serial No. 586,540.
T 0 (1H whom it may concern.
B it known that I, EMILE SCHREIBER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atchisou. in the county of Atchison and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful improvements in Key-Carrying Garment Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my said invention is the provision of a simple and inexpensive keycarrying attachment, designed particularly for use in combination with trousers, the said attachment being adapted to carry a bunch of keys in a pocket where the keys are hidden from view, and in such manner that the keys are suspended in the pocket and no weight is imposed on the bottom of the pocket, and hence there is no liability of the. pocket being worn or the wearer of the trousers being subjected to discomfort. Among other elements the attachment com prises a member, preferably in the form of a snap hook to which a key ring or other key holder is detachably connected and from which the key ring or holder may be expeditiously and easily removed when it is desired to take the keys from the pocket for the use of any one of the keys.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification Figure l is a view showing a portion of my novel attachment together with a bunch of keys as arranged in a right hand trousers side pocket, the outer wall or walls of the pocket being broken away to illustrate the attachment.
Figure 2 is a view showing the portion of the attachment at the inner side of the side wall of the pocket.
Figure 3 is a vertical section taken through the pocket and showing the attachment in edge elevation.
Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all of the views of the drawings.
I illustrate in the drawings a right hand side trousers pocket, the outer wall of the said pocket being designated by l in Figure 1, and the inner wall of the pocket being designated by 2 in Figure 2 and also in Figure 1.
In furtherance of my invention I attach a pendent tab 3 to the inner side of the waistband 4 of the trousers, preferably through the medium of a safety pin 5 as illustrated. The said tab 3 is provided at its lower end with a headed button 6. Figure 3, the said button 6 being designed to afford a cloth covered projection T in the inner side of the pocket, the cloth referred to being formed by the before mentioned inner wall 2 of the pocket.
In addition to the elements stated my novel attachment comprises a bail 8 disposed in the pocket and having a contracted upper portion 9 to straddle and retain itself on the said headed and covered button, and a connector clement, preferably in the form of a snap hook pivotally connected to and pendent from the bail 8. The connector or snap hook is designed to carry a key ring or holder 11 on which are keys 12.
By reference to Figure 1 it will be noted that in accordance with my invention the keys and the key ring or holder are suspended in the pocket and are carried loosely though securely and so that no portion of the weight of the keys is imposed on the bottom of the pocket. From this it follows that there will be no liability of the keys wearing the pocket, and no liability of the wearer being subjected to discomfort. Notwithstanding this, however, the keys are safely carried while hidden from view, and when desired the key holder and keys may be expeditiously and easily disengaged and separated from the connector 10, after which the keys may be removed from the pocket for use, and after use of any key the keys and key holder may be readily replaced in the pocket and as readily reengaged with the connector or snap hook 10 in the rela tion illustrated in Figure 1.
In addition to the advantages hereinbefore ascribed to my novel attachment it will be noted that the attachment is adapted to be expeditiously and easily applied to an ordinary pair of trousers without entailing any alteration whatever in the trousers; also, that the attachment is capable of being attached and detached from trousers without the employment of skilled labor, and is susceptible of repeated use in association with a number of pair of trousers in succession.
I have entered into a detailed description of the construction and relative arrangement of the parts embraced in the present and preferred embodiment of my invention in order to impart a full, ciear and exact understanding of the said embodiment. I do not desire, however, to be understood as confining myself to the specific construction and relative arrangement of parts inasmuch as in the future practice of the invention various changes and modifications may be made such as fall within the scope of my invention as defined in my appended claims.
Having described my invention, What 1 claim and desire to secure by Letters- Patent is l. The combination With a garment having a pocket With a flexible Wall, of an attachment comprising a tab connected with the inner side oi? the garment and having a headed button exterior of the pocket and opposed to said flexible Wall of the pocket, a bail arranged Within the pocket and having a contracted portion to straddle and engage the button and the pocket Wall covering the same, and a connector carried by the said bail 2. The combination With a garment having a pocket With a flexible Wall, of an attachment arranged Within the garment and having a headed button exterior of the pocket and opposed :to the said flexible wall of the pocket and also having a bail arranged Within the pocket and having a contracted portion to straddle and engage the button and the pocket- Wall covering the same, said bail adapted to carry an article to be disposed in suspended relation in the pocket.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
EMILE SCHREIBER.
