To all whom it may concern:
' Be'it known that I, .JAMES F. COSTELLO, a citizenof the Dominion of Canada, residing at the city and county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented;
new "and usefullmprovements in Form Clamps, of which the following is a speci-' fication. I This invention relates. to clamps especially adapted for use in clamping together theparts of concrete forms, such as column forms and the like, the object of the in vention being to generally improve and simplify the construction and operation of clamps of the'character-describ'ed; to'ren der the clamps adjustable for forms ofvarious sizes, and in generalto provide clamps which may be readily and quickly applied or removed as the case may be. One form which my invention may assume 'is exemplified in the following description and illustrated in the accompany ing drawings, in which- Fig. '1 is across-section of'a concrete coluinn showing the formsexteriorly thereof and the clamps in securing position.

Referring to the drawings in detail, and particularly to Fig' 1, A indicates aconcretecolumn which hasbeen poured, 2, 3, 4 and 5 the forms surroundingthe same, and 6, 7, 8' and 9 the clamping arms by which the forms are secured. The arms 6 and 8 are identical in construction and so are the arms 7 and 9. The perspective view shown in Fig. 2 shows theform of arm indicate-d'at 7 and 9. It consists of a piece of strap iron 10 of suitable length, on one end of which are formed two or more hooklike members such as indicated at 11 and,

gaged, as indicated at'25 and 26, and the outer-ends ofthe arms 6 and 8 are'swung inwardly between the plates 18 3 and 14. Thewwedges'20 are then inserted, for instance, in the slots 17, and they will here. engage-the opposite ends of the slots and theshoulders 22; I Theyv maythen be driven down by a hammer or other handy tool and will, during this driving action, exert a sufficient pull upon the clamping arms to bring the forms into snug engagement with relation to each other.
As the arms are constructed of strap iron or similar material, it is obvious that the strength of the same will be more than sulficient to hold the forms in position both before and during thepouring action'of the concrete.
From the foregoing it can .be seen that it is a simple matter to apply the arms and insert and drive the wedges into position, and it is equally as simple to release the" wedges by merely tapping them on their lower pointed ends. The clamps may thus be quickly and readily applied or removed, and as several slots are provided in each of the plates 13 and 14, and the opposite ends f the arms are provided With two or more.

Having thus described my I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A forming clamp of the character described comprising two pairs of arms, one arm of each pair comprising an elongated flat bar having a pair o-finterspaced plates secured at one'end and saidfplates having slots formed therein disposed at to the longitudinal axis of the bar, the other arm of each pair also comprising an elongated flat bar, an extension on one end o'f'each of said bars adapted'to pass between the interspaced plates and having a face formed thereon disposed at right angles to the slots in the plates, meansfor connecting the opposite endsof the bars, and a pair of Wedges insertible in the interspaced slotted plates and adapted to engage the rightangular faces of the extensions formed on the second-named bars.

In a clamp of the character'described a clamp section consisting of a pair of'bars adapted to be disposed at right angles to each other, one bar having a pair of interspaced plates secured at one end and said plates having slots formed therein disposed at 45 to the longitudinal axis of the bar, the other bar having an extension formed at one end adapted to pass between-the slotted plates and said extension having a face formed thereon disposed at right angles to the slots, and means on the opposite ends of each bar for connecting the same to a clamp section of similar construction.
