Description

E. ZWAHLEN. COMBINATION BLIND AND CURTAIN SUPPORT- APPLICATION FILED MAY H, 192!- Patentm Aug. 8, 1922.
JLAQSJQSQ.
i a n r. it; ill a GO'MBINATION BLIND lit-JED CURTAIN SUEEOBT.
Application. filed May 11, 1921.
To all 10. 1072; may concern:
Be known that l, ilriin ZWAHLEN, a citizen of the United States, residing North llraddock, in the county of Allegheny and bitatc of l eiuisylvai'iia, have invcnteiil certain new and useful improve ments in COIDlJlllltlOll Blind and Curtain Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to window blind and curtain fixtures, and the objects thereof are to provide a device of the character stated, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, which may e readily attached to a window frame without the use of nails, screws, and the like, thereby preventing injury to the frame, which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable and eifi cient in its use, readily adjustable, attractive in appearance, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
To the accomplishment of these and such other objects as may hereinafter appear, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts herein specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, varia tions and modifications may be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawing forming a portion of this specification and wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the window blind and curtain fixture, in accordance with this invention, secured to a window frame.
Figure 2 is an end view of the device.
Referring in detail to the drawing 1 denotes the body portion of the device attached to the window frame 2. The outer end of the body portion 1 is provided with a rearwardly extending flange 3, adapted to en page the outer edge of the frame 2.
V The longitudinal edges of the body portion are formed to provide a pair of parallel grooved guide members 41 on the front face of the body portion 1. The guide members i extend beyond the inner end 5 of the body portion 1 and each of said members extend in the same plane throughout. A coupling plate 6, pr vided with a rearwardly extending flange 7 adapted to engage the inner specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 8, 1922.
Serial No. 468,464.
-wise provided with forwardly projecting lug 10 formed with an aperture 11. A coupling screw 12 passes through the aperture 11 and threadedly engages the threaded aperture 9 of the lug 8. By tightening the screw 12 the flanges 3 and 7 will firmly engage the respective edges of the frame 2 and securely hold the body portion 1 to the frame 2. Each side of the coupling plate 6 carries a projection 13 extending in respective guide members 4: to facilitate the shifting movement of the plate 6 in the guide members 4;.
A supporting plate 14 is slidably mounted in the guide members 41 and is adapted for horizontal adjustment on the body portion 1. The plate 1 1 is provided with a screw 15 for locking the former in the adjusted position on the body portion 1. The plate 1 1 is integrally formed with a forwardly projecting bracket 16, suitably apertured, as at 17, for the reception of a blind roller end. An arm 18 is riveted, as at 19, to the upper portion of the bracket 16, and has its outer end formed to provide the barrel 20, which extends at right angles with respect to the arm 18. A curtain pole bracket 21 is slidably mounted in the barrel 20. The rear end of the barrel 20 is formed with a slot 22, which extends approximately one-half the length of the barrel 20. The rear end of the curtain pole bracket 21 carries a pin 23, which en gages in the slot 22 of the barrel 20, and limits the forward movement of the bracket 21 in the barrel 20.
By the use of my improved fixture the use of nails, screws, and the like, which are liable to injure or mar the window frame, are entirely eliminated, and the device may be readily attached to a frame of the ordinary construction and conveniently removed therefrom when desired.
hat I claim is:
1. A fixture for the purpose set forth comprising a body portion having a flange at one end and further formed with a pair of grooved guide members, each of said guide members extending in the same plane throughout and further extending beyond the other end of the body portion, a flanged coupling plate slidably mounted in the'extended portion of each of the said guide members, and a coupling screw for adjust-' and further extending beyond the other end of the body portion, a flanged coupling plate slidably mounted in the extended portion of each of the guide members, a coupling screw for adjustably connecting the said plate to v the body portion, and a supporting element adjustably mounted in said guide members against the body portion. I
3.- A fixture for the purpose set forth comprising a body portion having a flange at .one end and further formed with a pair of grooved guide members, each of said guide members extending in the same plane throughout and further extending beyond the other end of the body portion, a flanged coupling plate slidably mounted in the extended portion ofeach of the said guide members, a coupling screw for adjustably connecting the said plate to the body portion, a shiitable supporting plate mountedin the guide members against the body portion, an arm connected with the supporting plate and provided with a barrel, and a curtain pole bracket adjustably mounted in said barrel. c
4. A fixture for the purpose set forth comprising a body portion having a flange at one end and further formed with a pair of grooved guide members, each of said guide members extending in the same plane throughout and further extending beyond the other end of the body portion, a flanged coupling plate slidably mounted in the extended portion of each oi the said guide members, a coupling screw for adjustably connecting said plate to the body portion, a shiftable. supporting plate mounted in the guide members against the body portion an arm connected with the supporting plate and provided with a barrel, and a curtain pole bracket adjustably mounted in said barrel and having means for limiting the out ward movement of said bracket with respect to the barrel, and means for locking the supporting plate to said body portion.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
