Description
E.IKLAWANIS..
LINK BUTTON.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 6, 1921.
Patented June 6, 19221 ,5 K/awams- ATTO R N EY LINK BUTTON.
Application filed September 6, 1921.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ELIOTT KLAwANs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Link Buttons, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to cuff buttons, the general object of the invention being to provide a button, the two parts of which are connected together by links, with means for separating one part from the link connection so that the device can easily be attached to and detached from a culf and at the same time permitting a certain amount of play or movement between the parts to permit them to accommodate themselves to the cuff and to permit a certain amount of movement between the meeting parts of the cuff.
Another object of the invention is to make a detachable connection between a part of the button and the link means in the form of a snap fastener composed of a female part and a male part.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described,
I illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which 2- Figure l is a view of a cuff button constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a similar View with one part separated from the link means.
Figure 3 is a View of the rear face of the detachable part.
Figure 4 is a similar view of the other part.
In these views 1 and 2 indicate the two parts of the cuff button which are made of Specification of Letters Patent.

any suitable shape and which are connected together by the links 3 so that the parts are flexibly connected together. The part 1 is detachably connected with the link connection by means similar to the snap fastener now on the market, such means consisting of a socketed projection 4 on the rear face of part 1 and a rounded projection 5 on link 6 for engaging the socket. This link 6 forms the end link of the link connection 3. The parts are so formed that the projection 5 will be frictionally held in the socket in projection 4. the same as the two parts of the snap fastener are held together.
I prefer to make the end links 6 and 6 of bow-shape and to connect these links together by the oblong central link .6. Link 6 is held to the part 2 by the strap 2.
It will thus be seen that the cuff button can be easily placed in the button holes or removed therefrom by detaching the part 1 from the link connection and when the parts are in position in the button holes of the cuff the same effect as a link cuff button will be secured.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
NV hat I claim is A button of the class described comprising a pair of button parts, links connected with one part, a socketed projection on the outer part, the end links being of bow-shape, a member pivoted to the end link and having a rounded projection for engaging the socket in said socketed part and a strap connecting the other bowlink with its button aart.
1 In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
ELIOTT KLAXVANS.
