1,627,460 w. E. ROBERTS CUFF LINK Filed July 21. 1926 INVENTOR ATTORNEY between the shank o Patented May 3, 1927.
UNITED STATES WILLIAM ELLSWORTH ROBERTS, OF KENOSHA, WISCONSIN.
CUFF LINK.
Application filed July 21,
This invention relates to cuff links and its primary object is to provide a cuff link including companion separable parts connected in a manner whereby it is impossible to lose or misplace either one of the parts.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the con'lbination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like charactersdenote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my cufi link applied to a cuff of the toldable yp Figure 2 is a side elevation of the cull: link with the companion parts associated.
Figure 3 is a similar view with the parts separated.
Figure l is a plan view. I
Referring to the drawings in detail the reference numerals 1 and 2 indicate the head of the respective separable parts which are formed of any desired shape and disposed of each part and the head thereof is the enlarged end 4 of the connecting links 5. These enlarged ends may be apertured to receive the shanks which are secured to the heads in the manner as best shown in Figure 2.
Both of the Shanks are formed with flanges 6 having rounded circumferential edges and arranged to cooperate with the heads in receiving the cuff therebetween as shown in Figure 1, the shanks are arranged in the bottom holes .of the cuff as will be apparent with the links 3 extending between the folds of the cuff and these links are pivotally connected by a pin 7 which passes through bearings 8 which together with the pin 7 provide the hinge connection for the links.
One of the shanks is formed with a socket of the companion shank bya sna 1926. Serial No. 124,003.
9 having a spring clamp 10 therein which together with the socket receive the stud 11 I engagement as will be apparent. The lin s are restricted as at 12 and bent away from the heads to provide a sufiicient space to accommodate the outer fold of the cuff.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, uroxdded that such changes fall within the scope ofthe appended claims.
hat I claim is: i
l. A ma link of the character described comprising separable parts each including a head, a shank extending-from the head, a flange formed on the shank and cooperating with the head for receiving a cuff, a link for each part and being provided with an enlarged portion secured between said head and shank, a restricted portion formed on iach link adjacent its enlarged end and being bent away from the head to accommo date a fold of the cuff, means for securing the links in pivoted association and additional means for detachably clamping said parts together.
2. A cuff link of the character described comprisingseparable parts, each including a head, a shank for each head and extending inwardly therefrom a flange for each shank and cooperating with its head for receiving a cult, a stud extending inwardly centrally from one of said shanks and adapted to be frictionally received in a socket formed in the other of said shanks, a link for each part and being provided with an enlarged portion arranged between the head and shank thereof, a restricted portion formed on each link adjacent its enlarged end and being bent away from the head to accommodate a fold of the cuff, and means for pivotally connecting the links.-
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
WILLIAM ELLSWORTH ROBERTS.
