BRUSH.
[application tiled lcvember 318, 1922. Serial No. 600,546.
To all whom t may concern:
lie it known that l, SARA Shoals, a citizen ot" the United States, residing at Denver, in the city and county of Denver and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Brushes; and l do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being' had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters `of reference marked thereon, which form apart of this specification. y v
This invention relates to the art of brushes and has reference to a brush de signed with special reference to the. requirenient of cleaning dental plates.
l't is well known by all who wear false teeth that great care must be exercised inl keeping the plates clean and 'in a sanitary condition. wing to the peculiar construction of a dental plate, it is very ditiicuit to clean the same with an ordinary brush.
'it is the object of this invention to produce 9, brush that shall be so shaped as to adapt it specially for thoroughly cleaning those parts of a dental plate that have been found most dicult to clean with an ordinary brush.
lin order to more clearly describe my invention, shall have reference to the accompanying drawing, in which -e- F 1g. 'l is a side elevation of my improved brush.
Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Fig. 4- is a section of my brush and an upper dental plate and shows the manner in which the portions most diiicult of access can be cleaned; and
Fig. 5 shows a modified form of brush.
saine reference characters will be used to designate the same parts throughout the several views.
Numeral 5 indicates the handle of my improved brush, which is preferably an elongated flat piece that is adapted to be grasped in the hand. One edge of the handle 5 is attached to the body of the brush which consists of two angularly disposed portions 6 and 7, secured to the handle in the manner plainly shown in Figs'2 and 4. Although I am referring to the handle as being attached to the body portion of the brush, it is evident that the handle may be formed integral with the body portion as' will be the logical way of making it when a mouldable composition is employed in its manufacture; The side members 6 and'7 are preferably rounded, as indicated in Fig. 3 and are each provided with three or more rows of bristles 8 which are attached in such a manner .as to extend substantially parallelvwith the plane of the handle. The bristles are attached in any approved manner and the body of the brush, as well as the handle, can be made of any material suited for the purpose.
It is not necessary that parts 6 and 7 shall have plane surfaces, as they may be curved somewhat, as shown in Fig. 5, where sides 6 and 7 n correspond to sides 6 and 7 in the other figures.
Having now described my invention, what 75 I claim is:
A brush whose transverse section its formed in the shape of an inverted Y, rthe stem thereof forming a handle for the two angularly related sides, L plurality of rows 80 of bristles on the adjacent surfaces of the angular sides, said bristles extending in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the handle.
in testimony whereof I aiix my siffnature. satan sticas.
