ISIDOR LEVY, F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
BECEPTCLE.
Application filed January 19, 1922. Serial No. 530,419.
To all whom t may concern.:
Be it known that l, Ismon LEVY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borou h of Brookl n, in
6 the county of Kings and btate of New ork,
have invented a new and Improved Receptacle, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in receptacles, and it pertains more particularly to a receptacle especially adapted for containing cakes and similar perishable foods.
lt is one of the objects of the invention to provide a device of this character in which a sliding door controls acce tothe compartrnent in which the articles are adapted to be placed.
It is a further object of the invention to construct a sliding door so that the same will be readily operable to open and close the aperture through which the interior of the receptacle is reached.
It is a still further object of the invention to construct a device or" this character in such a manner that the device is simple of construction, easy of operation, and can be manufactured and sold at a reasonably low price.
With the above and other objects in view, reference is had to the accompanying drawin s, in which- `igure 1 is a view in elevation of a receptacleconstructed in accordance with the present linvention;
F 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
u Referring more particularly to the drawings, the device comprises a top member 5 and a bottom member 6, and each of these members is formed with a Harige 7, the edge of which terminates in a roll or similar bead 8. The reference character 9 designates the body of the receptacle, andA said body is secured to the top member 5 and bottom member 6, by means of solder or the like 10.
The receptacle is adapted to 'be circular 1n cross-sectional form, and the outer diameter of the receptacle body 9 is of less dimansion thanA the inner diameter of the flanges 7 of the top and bottom 5 and 6.
adapted to be closed by means of a sliding door 15,-andvsaid sliding door 15 is curved concentrically with the curvature of the body portion 9 and the curvature of the top and bottom 5 and 6, respectively. Adj acentv each `end the door is provided on its outer vface with a flange 16, and said flanges 16vare adapted to receive their respective beads 17 formed on the top 5 and bottom 6. By this construction it is apparent that the lower flange 16 forms a-support for the door and the upper bead 17 forms a guide for the door in its operation.
The interior of the receptacle may be provided with a plurality of shelves 20 and the sliding door 15 may likewise be provided with an operating handle 21 of anyv desired type.
From the foregoing it is apparent that the present invention provides anew and novel form of cake box or similar receptacle., and, at the same time, a structurev which is simple in construction, cheap in 'cost vof manufacture, as well as edlective for thel pur; pose intended, is had.
-What is claimed is.:
A receptacle comprising-a cylindrical body portion having a portion cut away to provide access to the interior thereof, a flanged plate secured to each end of the body portion, said hanged plates being of larger diameter than the diameter of the cylindrical body portion and each plate having a flange extending around its respective end of the cylindrical body portion in spaced relation thereto, a sliding plate conforming to the cylindrical shape of the body portion and adapted to close the access opening thereof, said plate having its edges received in the space 'betweenthe flanges of the endv plates and the cylindrical body ortion, and a flange secured to each edge ofP said closure plate and overlying the ange of its respective anged plate. f
