OSCAR HIDALGO, F NEW YORK, N. Y.
DUPLICATOR,
Application filed May 28,
.'lo all who/mit muy concern:
lBe it known that I, OSCAR HIDALGO, a citizen of Chile, South America, and a resident of New ,York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Duplicators, of which the following is a specilication.
The present invention relates to duplicators or mimeofrraphs of the class described fetters Patents Nos. 1,220,863 and 1,347 ,7 43, and has for its objects to improve the construction thereof so as to render it practicable and further reduce the cost of manufacture thereof.
With this object in view my invention consists substantially in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and set forth in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawing in which similar reference characters denote corresponding parts; Fig. 1 is a side elevation of my new duplicator; Fig. 2 is a. longitudinal section thereof, and Fig. 3 a cross section 25 on line 3--3 of Fig. 2.
The duplicator comprises a substantially cylindrically curved presser body formed of a perforated plate provided with up' wardly bent marginallongitudinal anges '30 11 and end fianges 12 to form an ink chamber 13. The end flanges 12 extend somewhat beyond the upper edges of the longitudinal flanges 11 and are at their free ends rounded or curved as at 12.
The longitudinal flanges 11 are adapted to extend close to the end flanges to form a substantially tight closure and prevent the ink which is adapted to be poured onto the inner perforated portion of the presser 4o plate from leaking out of the chamber 13.
The upper edges 11 of the longitudinal {ianges 11 are curved in conformity with the plate 10. Adapted to more or less tightly bear on said edges 11 is a correspondingly curved cover 14 which constitutes the body plate. The ends 15 of said'cover are bent upwardly and formed with tubular portions 15 adapted to snap over the rounded or curved edges 12 of the end fianges whereby the cover and presser body are frictionally held in engagement with one another. The body plate 14 has attached to its outer face two oppositely arranged brackets 16 to which is fixed a handle 17 extending horizontally between the same and at a con- 1921. serial no. 473,349.
venient distance from the outer face of the body plate.
For the removable attachment of the ink pad or absorbent sheet 18 I provide at each end of the presser plate 10 a pair of ears or brackets 19 formed with transversal recesses 19. The ink pad 18 is folded at its end edges to form tubular pockets 18 to receive rigid members or rods 20. rll`hese rods are made longer than the pockets so that their ends may project outwardly therefrom to engage the recesses of the brackets 19. In order to secure the rods in the sockets and at the same time cause the absorbent sheet to extend smoothly over the outer surface of the presser plate, the absorbent sheet 18 is made slightly shorter than the presser plate so that a slight stretching of the former will be necessary to position the rods 20 into the sockets 19. In addition thereto the recesses 19' are made slanting downwardly toward their inner ends, so that the rods when engaged therein will not accidentally slip out.
For the attachment of the stencil sheet 21 over the outer face of the ink pad 18 I provide resilient band shaped clasps 22 which are adapted to be passed over the ends of the stencil sheet and engaged by the walls or flanges 11 of the presser plate. To this end one of the longitudinal walls 11 of the presser plate is provided at each end with an oblong slot 112 and the other wall thereof with an outwardly projecting member such as a headed screw bolt 23 or the like arranged opposite said slot. The band shaped clasps 22 are each formed at one end with Va hook shaped portion 22 which is adapted to be passed into the oblong slot 112, andat the opposite end with a lateral notch 222 adapted to engage the projection or screw bolt 23. At one end each clasp is formed with a lateral bend 223 which serves as a grasp facilitating the handling of these clasps.
The cover or body plate 14 is provided with a laterally projecting hook shaped member 24 forming a grasp.
25 denotes a guide base for the duplicator.
lVhat I claim and desire to secure by 105 Letters Patent is 1. In a duplicator, a curved perforated presser plate having end walls and longitudinal walls to form an ink chamber and a correspondingly curved body plate adapt- 110 ed to bear on the upper edges of the said tudinal correspondingly curved walls, said longitudinal walls and constituting a cover walls confining an ink chamber, a (-orle- 15 for said chamber. spondingly curved body plate adapted to 2. In a duplicator, a curved perforated bear on said longitudinal walls and to fric- 5 presser plate' having end walls and longitonally engage said end walls, said body tudinal walls to form an ink chamber and plate constituting a cover for said ink a. correspondingly curved body plate adapt chamber. 2 ed to bear on the upper edges of the said Signed at New York this 27 day of longitudinal walls and constitutingi a cover May, 1921.
