To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HuBnR'r P. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Union City, in the county of Obion and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cotton- Picking Sacks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which, it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to improvements in sacks such as are used by cotton pickers to receive the cotton-lint as the same is picked from the bolls of the plants.

The principal object of the invention is to construct a device of the above mentioned character which is simple and eflicient, strong, durable, easily manipulated and inexpensive to manufacture.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

I Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of In carrying out my invention I employ a sack 1 and a detachable bib-section 2, including shoulder straps, which is adapted to be attached to either the front or back walls of the sack and suspended from the shoulders of the user. With this construction the sack can be reversed and either side thereof arranged. to drag on the ground between the rows of cotton thus prolonging the life of the sack.

The sack 1 is preferably constructed of canvas or any other suitable material and its open end turned inwardly upon itself at 3 and is stitched at 4 to the sides of the sack, thus substantially strengthening the sack at its open end. In order to securely fasten the rings 5 to the sack 1, I form spaced slots 6 in the sides of the sack and insert the free ends of a looped tape 7 through the said slots and stitch them between the turned in section 3 and the sides of the sack. as shown.

The detachable bib section. 2 is preferably formed of two pieces of canvas or other suitable material having its ends turned in and stitched in the manner shown. This bib section is also provided with a shoulder strap 8 so that the same may be conveniently suspended from the shoulder of the user. In order that the bib section may be readily attached to the sack, I provide snap-fasteners 9 to engage the rings 5 on the sack. These snap-hooks 9 are secured to the bib section in the same manner as the'rings 5 are secured to the sack, so that further description of this point will not be necessary. These snap-fasteners are preferably fastened to the bib at a point intermediate the upper and lower ends of the same.

It should be noted that the lower free end of the bib section 2 hangs loosely within the mouth of the sack and will thus guide the cotton into the sack and prevent the same from being wasted.

This improved sack and flap, while designed for the purpose of picking cotton, is readily adaptable for various other uses.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herein shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

The combination in a cotton pickers sack, of a bag having its upper end formed of two thicknesses. a series of tabs each having its lower end secured between said thicknesses and having its upper end extending outward through the outer thickness, rings secured to the outward extensions of said tabs. at bib having a lower rectangular portion formed of twothicknesses and beingapproximately as wide as one-half the circumference of the said bib including a shoulder strap, a series of tabs having their upper ends secured between. the thicknesses of the bib and having their lower ends extending outward through the rear thickness at points substantially along the horizontal central line of the bib, and snap hooks secured to the tabs of the bib, said snap hooks being engageable with said rings in such relation that the lower edge of the bib extends downward into the mouth of the bag to guide cotton into the bag.
