' citizen of theUnited States, residing'atChi-I V cago, in the: county of OOOk Qnd St atG LbZ E Illinois, have? invented certain new andguseful Improvements in Curtain-Flxtures, .of-
whichthe followingis a specificati0n. v This;invention-relates to improvements in a curtain fixtures and'has reference more pal 1o. ticularly to thatftype of curtain- -fixture wherein the rodsupporting the curtain is V hingedpvertically at one end so as to be capable of swingingoutwardly withthe curtain away from the plane of the window.
I My present invention is vinthe nature of an improvement 'uponzthe curtain fixture forming the subject matter'of myyformer Letters 'Patent No.-1,309,348, granted July 8, 1919; and has reference, more particularly to an improvedhanger or support for a side drape. ..In my'said former patent, the hanger or support for the side drape is ,detachably fastened to the main curtain rod; and this latter, inturn, is det'achably and adjustably mounted uponthe horizontal inwardly. ex-
tending arm of the 'hingechcurtain rod construction wherein the hanger for the side drape shall serve as aguard or stop to'prevent the outer. endofthe curtain rod'from extending too far beyond the hinge of the curtain rod support and thus interferewith V the swinging movements of the latter. An-
other object of the invention'is to provide an improved hanger or support for the side drape which shall be permanently attached tothe curtain rodsupport and shall be independent of the .curtain rod proper, so that thelatter may be taken down and replaced without the necessity of first removing-the side drape. r
inth'e' art from'the following detailed-de lscription when taken in connectionwith the accompanying drawings, in which I. have Still other Objects and advantages invention will be apparent to those illed v illustrated a practicalandembodi ment ofthe invention, and in which'.

Referring tovthe-idrawings, l0 designates a vertical side member ofa window casing to which are secured a .pair of brackets -11 and 12, the upper bracket 11 having the curved form shown iniFig, 1 terminatingat itsfree end in a bearing member 11", jand the lov'ver bracket 12having aI-horizontal outwardly extending portion; 12f formed withalbearing aperture 13 (Fig'l) and" the bearings 11 and 13 of these-brackets' is the vertical member or stem lfi of the cur tain rod support, this latter havinga pair.
'ofoppositely extendinglugs or pins 16? cowith radially extendingfgroov'es M udie V disposedat right angles to each other and both intersecting the hole 13. Mounted inf,
operating with the grooves 14 and-15, to
lock the fixture in closed, half-opened, and fully opened positions, and at. its'iupper end an integral horizontally extending arm 17, a short. section ,17 of which that leads off from the upper endof thesternlh being preferably slightly inclined forwardly relatively tothe'plane of the window, soas to support thewniain curtain rod ata proper distance in front ofjthe'window. Onjthe.
free end of the horizontalarm'l'i', is a sheet metal clip designated as an entirety byg18;
This clip is formed with integral forwardly, projecting-upper and lower pairs. of guide.
It will be obvious, by reference to Fig.
7 2, that the curved elbow portion 23 of the side drape hanger lies directly outside of and opposite the outer curved end 21 of the main curtain rod 21, so that in applying the latter to the'curtain rod, support 17 it isimpossible to project the outer end of the main curtain rod beyond the, position defined by the curved portion 28 of the side drape hanger; this position being one which permits the outward swinging movement of the curtain rod'support without interference with the window frame. Hence, the described side drape hanger possesses the double function of supporting the side 'dape 'and insuring a positioning of the main curtain rod that will permit the entire assembly to swing-freely on its vertizal hinge without interference from the window frame. It will also be readily ap'-' parent that the described construction pernnts the 1112.111 curtain rod 21 to"-be removed and -appl1'ed, whenever necessary or desirthe side drape. Y
