SHADE-BRACKET.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, AGNES L. BELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bellaire, in the county of Belmont, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The present invention is directed to improvements in shade brackets, and has for its object to provide a device of this character constructed in such a manner that it can be conveniently attached to the window frame, and when in place thereon the bracket arm can be adjusted longitudinally so as to support shades of different lengths.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is exceedingly simple in construction and one in which the bracket arm can be quickly adjusted and held firmly in its adjusted position.

With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the window showing the device in place thereon.

Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view of the device.

Referring to the drawing 1 indicates a plate, which is provided with a longitudinal slot 2, said plate having its side edges terminating in right angle flanges 3, the purpose of which will appear later. The outer end of the plate terminates in an inwardly directed plate A, which is provided with lateral wings 5, said plate being bent under the plate 1. The inner end of the plate 1 terminates in a shank 6, which in turn terminates in a strip 7, said strip having openings 8 formed in its ends, while the wings 5 are provided with openings 9, said openings being for the purpose of receiving Specification of Letters Patent.

suitable devices for securing the plate 1 upon the window frame.

A plate 10 is provided and is slidably engaged with the inner surface of the plate 1, said plate being rectangular in shape so that its side edges will engage the flanges 3 thereby preventing the plate from turning, but at the same time allowing the same to slide freely when desired. The plate 10 is provided with a threaded opening 11 which is engaged by the threaded shank 12, said shank being carried by the head 13, said head having its inner end provided with an annular flange 14: which engages the plate 1 so that the head can be rotated to cause the plate 10 to bindingly engage the plate 1, thereby holding the bracket arm 15, which is formed integral with the plate 10, in adjusted positions. The bracket arm 15 is disposed at right angles to the plate 10 and extends outwardly through the slot 2, and is provided with means for engaging the ends of the shade roller, as is usual.

It will be of course understood that the devices are made in right and lefts.

.What is claimed An adjustable window shade bracket comprising a metallic strip having one of its end portionsbent upon itself to lie in parallel relation to the intermediate portion of the strip and spaced therefrom, said bent portion having lateral attaching wings at its end lying outwardly of the sides of the strip, said strip having its opposite end portion offset to form an attaching foot lying in the plane of the attaching wings, said strip having a longitudinal slot formed therein between its end portions just referred to, and having its side portions bent to form flanges extending toward the first mentioned end portion of the strip, a plate slid-ably disposed between the flanges, a clamping member having a stem engaged through the slot and threaded into the plate, and a shade bracket carried by the plate and extending outwardly through the slot.
