Description
D. F. JAUSS.
' Improvement in Wash-Boiler Attachments.
Patented Sep.10,1872.
UNITE Qr'rrcn.
DAVID F. JAUSS, OF HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO WILLIAM A. MIDDLETON, OF SAME PLACE.
EMPRQVEEMENT IN WA$H*BOILER ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 131,2?5, dated September 10,1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID F. J AUSS, of Harrisburg, in the county of Dauphin and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachment for Wash-Boilers; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompan yin g drawing and t0 the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an attachment for wash-boilers, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure l is a plan view, and Fig. 2 a side View, part in section, of my wash-boiler attachment. Fig. 3 is a perspective view from the under side of the same.
A represents a rim of any suitable dimensions to fit inside and rest upon the bottom of a wash-boiler, said rim being, at or near its upper edge, provided with plates 13 B. These plates extend, one from each end of the rim, toward the center, and are depressed, as shown, forming two inclined suction-chutes, O G, with a convex division, D, between them running longitudinally in the center, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. The chutes O G, one on each side of the center division, extend past each other in opposite directions, and over each chute is a convex guard, E, provided with perforations,
as shown, and running transversely across. From the plates B, at each end of the attachment, extends a tube, G, upward, and the upper ends of which are curved inward, as shown.
The guards E E prevent the suction-chutes G G from being stopped up by the clothes in washing, and, at the same time, allow the water to pass down through the chutes and up again through the tubes.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the rim A, tubes G G, and plates B B, with the inclined chutes O O passing under the other, curved partition D, and perforated plates E E covering the tops of the inner ends of the chutes, all as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoingI have hereunto set my hand this 21st day of March, 1872.
. DAVID F. JAUSS.
