INVENTOR WITNESSES Bfw , A TTOHNEYS- JAMES G. GALLEMORE, OF WASIIINGTON, MISSOURI.
TYPE-CASE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 21, 1908.
Application filed December 24, 1907. Serial No. 407,899.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES G. GALLEMORE, a cltizen of the United States, and a resident of Washington, in the county of Franklin and State of Missouri, have invcnted'a new and Improved Type-Case, of which the following s a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention is an improvement in ty )c cases, and has for its object primarily t c provision of a case in which no opportunity is presented for the type to work or slide un der the partitions from one compartment of the case to another, or to be in any wise cau ht'or lodged under'the partitions.
T e invention furtherresides in certain novel features of construction as will be here inafter particularl described and claimed.
Reference is to e had to the accompanying. drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar'characters of reference indicate corresponding arts in all'the views.
Figure 1 is a plan of t e case complete; Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view on the line 2 of Fig. 1 and Fi 3 is a corresponding section onthe line3 .Fig. 1.
In the construction of my improved type case, I employ the usual marginal frame 5,
constructs of wood or'other suitable mate-- rial and divided by the cross-piece 6. -Thethelong'itudinitl and transverse partitions presented; t
.10, as-h is 'the-usual practice; the construction, he ever, differ ng in that the partitions are cast or otherwise formed inte rally with the ottom of the receptacle, as clearly shown in-Fi s. 2 and 3, whereby no 0p ortunity of" the t intype bein caught or odged between the partitions and the bottom of the receptacle, or passing under the partitions from one type compartment to another, is
portant feature of m invention.
The bottoms oft e" type receptacles are su ported cross-wiseof their length at each sidia of the transverse. center by wires 11, each of which passes contiguous to the under face of the bottom and conforms to the sides of the case as well as to theinarginal flanges is being a'material and imthereof, as clearly shown in Fig. 3; suitable grooves being made in the frame for the reception of these wires in order that they will not interfere with the proper seating of the type case thereon. The bottom of each ty e receptacle is' preferably perforated for tiio purpose of permitting of accumulating dust siftiiu therethrough and thus prevent its accumulation in the several type compare ments.
By the construction hereinbefore described and shown; it is apparent that the type receptacle may be removed from the frame and replaced by a new one should it be in any wise damaged or broken, this being possible at small cost, and making the case in allure spects as good as new.
, Although I have described the preferred embodiment of my invention in detail, it is obvious that the same may be modified in particulars falling within the scope of the claims annexed.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 7 1. A type case, comprising a frame rabbetcd at its inner edge, and a metalreceptacle having outwardly-turned flanges seated in the rabbeted inner ed e of the frame, said receptacle being provided with a continuous perforated bottom'having partitions integral therewith, forming type compartments.
2, A type case, comprising a frame, a metal receptacle having outwardly-turned flanges seated on said frame, partitions, di-
viding the receptacle into a plurality of ty e compartments, and supporting wires for t e receptacle, conforming to the under side thereof and to said flanges, and seated in grooves in the frame.
3. A type case, comprising a frame rabibeted at its inner edge, a type recept cle divided into a plurality of-type compar ments and having outwardly-turned flanges seated inthe rabbeted inner ed e of the frame, and
supporting wires for the receptacle, conforming to the ,under side thereof and seated in rooves in the frame.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JAMES G. GALLEMORE.
GEORGE R. W OI'JBRINK.
