UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ADOLPH J. GLASER, 0F COMFORT, TEXAS.
DENTAL v PLATE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 20, 1919.
Application filed March 22, 1919. Serial No. 284,445.
iences experienced in this class of devices.
The object of my invention is to so construct the same that. the suction of the plate may be fully retained, but with other portions of the plate removed, thus rendering the user less conscious of its presence. A further object is to so construct the same that it will be durable, efficient, and be easily and cheaply manufactured.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like symbols of reference represent corresponding parts in the Several views Figure 1 is a top plan view of the plate;
Fig. 2 a bottom plan of the same; and,
Fig. 3 a transverse section, on the line 3-3, of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrow.
In th drawings, the numeral 1 represents the plate; 2 the suction cavity in the body portion of the plate to conform to the roof or palatine portion of the mouth; and 3 are the teeth. at are the openings in the lateral walls of the plate; 5 the raised portion near the openings; 6 the usual flange or rim forming the spaces 7 in which the gums of the upper jaw fit; and 8 the lingual surface of the same.
The advantage of the device will be readily appreciated from the foregoing description. By the use of the invention contact is permitted between the tongue, food, saliva,-
or contents of the mouth, and the natural roof of the mouth, thus preserving the natural manner of tasting the food, aiding digestion, stimulating saliva flow, and cleansing of the oral cavity.
The plate may, of course, be made of any suitable material, such as rubber, porcelain, metal, etc., as may be desired.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is
A dental plate formed with a suction device, and having spaces in its lateral portions between said suction device and the gum-channels of the same.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature.
ADO'LPH J. GLASER.
