Be it known that I; GEORGE"HENRY 'WHEARY, a citizen of the United States, and resident o'f Racine, in thecounty of Racine and State of Tisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Closet-Fixtures, of which the following is av description, reference being had' to the accompanying drawings, which-are a part of thisspecification. I

This invention relates to improvements in closet fixtures for supporting wearing 'apparel. I

It is one of the objects of the present in vention to provide a closet fixture upon which garment hangers may be mounted in such a manner as to prevent their surreptitious removal by unscrupulous persons.

A further object of the invention is to provide a closet fixture provided with slidable garment hangers which may be easily moved to drape garments thereon or remove them therefrom without permitting the hangers being surreptitiously removed from the fixture.

A further objectof the invention is to provide a closetfixture in the form of a single track for holding garment hangers locked thereon and'having means'whereby the hangers may be easily removed by imlocking a portion of the fixture.

A fu rther object of the invention is to provide a closet fixture having an extensible track end which may be swung to alined position with the fixed portion of the track to permit "the hangers mounted thereon being separated to easily remove or replace garments thereon.

A, further object of the invention is to provide a closet fixture in'which the means for locking the removable portions of the track also serves as a guard for preventing the surreptitious removal ofth'e fixture from its support.

A further'object'of the invention is to provide a closet fixturewhich isfof simple construction, is strong and durable and is well adapted for the purpose described.

'With the-above and "other objects in view the invention consists of they improved closet fixture and its parts and combinations as set forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.

The fixture comprises the rear securing plate 10 having forwardly projecting rod or track 11 upon which eyed garment hangers 12 are slidably mounted. The rod or track is round in cross section and has a threaded engagement 13 with the rear securing plate 10 as indicated in Fig. 3 and atits forward end is provided with a hinged extension 14 which can be swung horizontally from an outer position alinedjwith the fixedportion 'of'the track to aninner or closed position extending atright angles to the said fixed track.

The locking bar is hinged or pivoted at one end to the securing plate 10 by a pivot pin and at its opposite end is provided with :1 depending tongue 2 1 which enters the. lock 22 mounted on the securing plate 10 and locks the bar 19 in track engaging position. The lock 22 is controlled by a key 23.

The securing plate 10 is connected to a support by screws '21, a number of which are positioned in the rear of the locking bar 19 and cannot be unscrewed unless the to open position.

In the modified form shown in Figs. 5 and 6 the fixed track 11, is in two parts and the said parts are hinged together close to the threaded end as indicated by the numeral. 25 to permit said bar to be folded close to its support when desired. The joint provides for the outer part swinging horizontally to open or folded position and is locked in open position by means of a slidable and revoluble locking sleeve 26 mounted on the fixed track. This locking sleeve when in locking position extends over the hinge and is of sufficient length to prevent The sleeve is also provided with'a bayonet slot 27 which is entered by a locking pin 9.8 to lock the sleeve in joint locking position.

This form of fixture is also provided with an outer extensible hinged track 1% similar to the extension track of the first mentioned form.

The fixed track is connected to the securing plate in the same manner as the first mentioned form and the same reference numerals will apply.

In use the extensible track is swung into alinement with the fixed track to provide suiiicient space to separate the hangers and permit the removal of the garments therefrom, The extensible track also serves when in closed or folded position to prevent the hangers working outwardly,

YVhile the fixture has been described as a closet fixture and more particularly adapted for use in hotels, it is to be understood the fixture is also useful in private houses and other places than closets.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that the closet fixture is of simple construction and is well adapted for the pun pose described.

What I claim as my invention is:

1. A closet fixture, comprising a securing member having means for connecting it to a support, a garment hanger track member removably connected to the securing member and projecting horizontally outwardly therefrom and having a stop means on its outer end, locking means for preventing the member garment surreptitious removal of the track ii'rom the securing member, and a hanger having a medial eyed portion through which the track member extends, the o ening or said eyed portion being or" such diameter as to prevent the hanger from passing over the stop means, said locking means also looking the hanger on the track member against surreptitious removal.

2. A closet fixture, comprising a securing member having means for connecting it to a support, a garment hanger track member removably connected to the securing member and projecting horizontally outwardly therefrom and having a stop means on its outer end, locking means for preventing the surreptitious removal of the track member from the securing member and the securing member from its support, and a garment hanger having a medial eyed portion through 8 which the tract: member extends, the openof said eyed portion being of such diameter as 'to prevent the hanger from passing over the stop means, said locking means also locking the hanger on the track member against surreptitious removal.

3. A closet fixture, comprising a securing member having means for connecting it to a support, a garment hanger track member revolubly connected to the securing member and projecting horizontally outwardly therefrom and having a stop means on its outer end, a locking means for locking the track member against rotation and for preventing the surreptitious removal of the securingmember from its support, and garment hangers having medial eyed portions through which the track member extends, the openings of said eyed portions being of such diameter as to prevent the hangore from passing over the stop means, said locking means also locking the hanger on the track member against surreptitious removal.

4. A closet fixture, comprising a securing member having means for connecting it to a support, a horizontally extending gal ment hanger track member having a threaded engagement at its inner end with the securing member and a stop means on its outer end, said track member also having a flattened portion adjacent its connection with the securing member, a locking member having a slotted portion engaging the fiattened portion of the track member to prevent its rotation, and garment hangers having medial eyed portions through which the track member extends, the openings, of said eyed portions being of such diameter as to prevent the hangers from passing over the stop means, said locking member locking the track member to the securing member and the hangers on the trackmember against surreptitious removal,

A closet fixture, comprising a securing member having means for connecting it to a support, a horizontally extending garment hanger track member having a threaded engagement at its inner end with the securing member and provided with a flattened side portion adjacent its connection with the said securing member, a locking bar pivoted at one end to the securing member and having a locking engagement at its other end with said securing member, a medial portion of said bar having a slotted portion which engages the flattened portion of the track member to prevent said track member from being unthreaded from the securing plate, an extension track member hinged to the outer end of the track member and provided with stop means at its outer end, and garment hangers having medial eyed portions through which the track members extend, the openings of said eyed portions being of such diameter as to prevent the hangers from passing over the stop means, said locking bar also looking the hangers on the track member against surreptitious removal.

6. A closet fixture, comprising a securing member having means for connecting it to a support, a horizontally extending twopart-hinged-together garment hanger track member having a threaded engagement at its inner end with the securing member and projecting outwardly therefrom, a sleeve slidably mounted on the track member and movable to a position surrounding the hinged connection of the track parts to lock said parts in alined position with respect to each other, a locking means for locking the track member against rotation, the outer end portion of said track member provided wlth a stop means, and garment hangers having medial eyed portions through which the track member extends, the openings of said eyed portions being of such diameter as to prevent the hangers from passing over the stop means, said locking means also locking the garment hangers on the track member against surreptitious removal.

7. A closet fixture, comprising a securing member having means for connecting it to a support, a horizontally extending twopart-hinged-together garment hanger track member having a threaded engagement at its inner end with the securing member and projecting outwardly therefrom, a sleeve slidably mounted on the track member and movable to a position surrounding 5 the hinged connection of the track parts to lock said parts in alined position with respect to each other, means for locking the sleeve in its hinge locking position, a locking means for locking the track member against rotation, an extension track hinged to the outer end of the first mentioned track member and provided with stop means on its outer end, and garment hangers having medial eyed portions through which the track member extends, the openings of said eyed portions being of such diameter as to prevent the hangers from passing over the stop means, said locking means also locking the garment hangers on the track member against surreptitious removal.
